December Wrap Up!

How is it 2017 tomorrow? How!? I don’t understand how we are here already! Although I am glad because 2016 was such an awful year and I just want to forget about it. December was a slightly better month and it has made the year end nicely so hopefully January will be an awesome start to the new year!

I managed to read three books this month and I am pretty happy with that! I, unfortunately, didn’t manage to reach my goal of fifty books but I did read forty and you know what? I am happy with that! Forty books is pretty good for me and I think I will just set another target of fifty books in 2017 and see how I do. Here are the books I read this month:

tales-from-the-shadowhunter-academy1) Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson and Robin Wasserman

I really liked this book but the ending was pretty disappointing and I don’t understand why Cassie chose that ending… Apart from that, it was really enjoyable and better than The Bane Chronicles. The chapters were more engaging and although some of them dragged, I enjoyed the majority of them.

I am currently reading Ragdoll by Daniel Cole! I was delighted to find out I was approved to read this on NetGalley! I’ve had my eye on this book for so long but I was hesitant to request it because I really didn’t think I’d be approved since my blog is quite small! I was so excited when I received the email and I started reading it straight away, eager to devour this intriguing book! The synopsis sounded absolutely amazing I was like I have to read this. Immediately. And so far I am really enjoying it!

Synopsis:

A body is discovered with the dismembered parts of six victims stitched together like a puppet, nicknamed by the press as the ‘ragdoll’.

Assigned to the shocking case are Detective William ‘Wolf’ Fawkes, recently reinstated to the London Met, and his former partner Detective Emily Baxter.

December TBR!

I cannot believe it is December already! Seriously where has 2016 gone? Not that I will miss it because it wasn’t the best year so I’m excited to see what 2017 will bring! My TBR for this month will be quite small because I imagine I’ll be working a lot since December will be a busy month. I’m super excited for Christmas, I’ll be counting down the days!

tales-from-the-shadowhunter-academy1) Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson and Robin Wasserman

This was on my TBR for last month but because it’s such a huge book I only managed to read half of it! I actually finished it yesterday though and it was a really amazing book! I’ll be posting a review soon!

Synopsis:

Simon Lewis has been a human and a vampire and now he is becoming a Shadowhunter. But the events of City of Heavenly Fire left him stripped of his memories, and Simon isn’t sure who he is any more. He knows he was friends with Clary and that he convinced the total goddess Isabelle Lightwood to go out with him … but he doesn’t know how.  So when the Shadowhunter Academy reopens, he throws himself into a new world of demon-hunting, determined to find himself again, rediscover his relationships and ascend as a true Shadowhunter. But he soon realises that nothing is ever straightforward at the Academy…

November Book Haul!

I am super happy with the books I bought this month! I went on a book buying ban in the middle of the month and so far I have stuck to it! I plan to stick to it until the middle of January when Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth comes out! All the books I bought this month were pre-orders apart from one which is an ARC given to me by smith publicity.

tales-from-the-shadowhunter-academy1) Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson and Robin Wasserman

I am so in love with this book! The cover is so flipping gorgeous and the spine is so pretty! The poster is AMAZING! Love it! It’s such a huge book and just holding it in my hands makes me so happy! I’m about halfway through and I love it so much! Simon is one of my favourite characters and it’s just so good reading about him and his journey on becoming a Shadowhunter. It’s taking me a lot longer to read it than I thought it would because it’s just a massive book! But I’m really enjoying it and I’m so excited to carry on reading it.

November TBR!

Hey guys! I can’t believe it’s November already! Is it bad that I’m already excited for Christmas? Here are all the lovely books I am planning on reading this month:

the-martian1)  The Martian by Andy Weir

I was actually given this as a Secret Santa present last year but have only just got around to reading it! I’m already halfway through this and I am completely hooked on it! It took me a while to get into it but once I got past forty pages or so it started to get insanely good. I cannot wait to find out what happens!

Top 5 Wednesday: Characters You WOULDN’T Want to Trade Places With

This group was created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey) and is hosted by Sam (ThoughtsOnTomes). If you want to participate, check out the link on Goodreads here.

This is such an interesting topic for this week! I’m excited to do this but I feel kind of bad for the characters I’m choosing! If you haven’t read any of these books, please do not read my reasons for not trading places because there will be spoilers.

A Thousand Pieces of You1) Marguerite Caine (A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray)

Whilst I think it would be freaking awesome travelling to alternate dimensions, you are pretty much stealing another person’s body and controlling them which isn’t fun at all as Marguerite learns during Ten Thousand Skies Above You. Plus, after what happened to her dad and Theo, it is quite a dangerous game to play.
