Books I Want to Read in May 2021

Hey guys! Today I’ll be talking about the books I want to read in May. I’ve picked out a good selection and a mix of crime and fantasy, though it’s leaning more towards crime! Here’s what I want to read:

Everyday Magic by Charlie Laidlaw: This is the first book I want to read in May and it was kindly sent to me by the author. I’ve read a few of Charlie’s books and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them so I’m looking forward to this one. It follows Carole Gunn who is living an unfulfilled life so she decides to revisit places that are special to her in order to better understand herself. I’m already intrigued by it and it definitely sounds like it will be an uplifting read. It comes out at the end of the month so keep an eye out for my review.

A Dark and Hollow Star by Ashley Shuttleworth: This has been on a few TBRs already, but I have finally started reading it so you’ll definitely see it on my May wrap up! I’m determined to finally move it from my TBR shelf to my read shelf.

Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson: I recently picked up the sequel to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and I definitely do not want it to be sat on my shelf for two years before I pick it up! So I’ll be reading it right after I finish A Dark and Hollow Star. I’ve heard that it isn’t as good as the first one which is a shame, but I’m still looking forward to reading it. This time round, Pip is investigating the disappearance of Jamie Reynolds. The only difference this time is that everyone is listening to her since she has released a true-crime podcast. Sounds interesting! I can’t wait to find out more about the podcast.

Way of the Argosi by Sebastien de Castell: I am so, so excited to dive into this one! It’s a prequel to one of my absolute favourite series, Spellslinger! It’s an origin story for Ferius Parfax and her journey to becoming an Argosi.  I’m honestly so excited to find out more about her character and I absolutely love the cover.

Missing Pieces by Tim Weaver: Another one I’m so excited for! This one recently came out but Tim Weaver is one of my favourite crime authors so I had to bump this one to the top of my pile. It’s a standalone and is about Rebekah Murphy, who has been missing for five months. She’s alone on an abandoned island with a killer on her trail and she has to stay alive long enough to understand why this is happening to her. This sounds so thrilling and I really can’t wait to dive in.

Mr Nobody by Catherine Steadman: I picked this one up recently but I’ve been eyeing it up for a while. It sounds so intriguing and I was really drawn in by the cover. A man is found on a beach, with no memory of who he is. Dr Emma Lewis is asked to take on the case and she discovers he knows something about her own past that no one else knows. It’s got my attention already!

So these are the six books I’ve picked out for May. If you’ve read any of them, I’d love to hear your thoughts! I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
