April Book Haul!

Hey guys! So, I have not been good this month. I am currently reading my sixth book of the month (hoping to read 7 but we will see) and I was like, yes! That’s another six books knocked off my TBR! You know what I went and did to celebrate? I bought another 5 books! I can’t even say I regret it though because they are such pretty, deserving books. But now I do feel like I have accomplished nothing with my TBR. Oh wellll! Here are the beautiful books I bought this month:

Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi: I saw this sitting in Waterstones looking all pretty and special and I just snatched it up and held onto it like it was the only copy in the world. Have I even read the Shatter Me series? No. I am just a sucker for books with pretty covers. I have no self control!

Scythe by Neal Shusterman: I have been seeing this cover everywhere and honestly I am intrigued. It sounds really good and I have been seeing great reviews for it. I wasn’t intending on buying it yet but because Restore Me had a buy one get one half price sticker I had to take advantage of that. So, naturally, when I saw Scythe with the same sticker and realised it was the only copy in the shop, that was that. It was coming home with me.

Top 5 Wednesday: Forgettable Books

Hey guys! So like an idiot I read the list of topics for January in a rush and accidentally ended up posting the topic for the 17th on the 10th! I thought ‘Forgettable Books’ was this week but it was actually ‘Books You Didn’t Get to In 2017’! Sorry for the mix up and enjoy my picks for ‘Forgettable Books’ a week early, I guess!

I was actually really excited to get to this topic because it seems like such an interesting one. I’m really excited to see what books people find forgettable and if we share any! I’m just revisiting old favourites and realising they are no longer my favourites because I can’t remember nothing about them. I don’t have a clue what happened with regards to plot and characters, even though they are 300-400 pages. So they have made my list for forgettable books! Enjoy!

This group was created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey) and is hosted by Sam (ThoughtsOnTomes). If you want to participate, check out the link on Goodreads here.

insurgent1) Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Quite an old book now but I’m being completely honest with you all when I say I have absolutely no idea what happened in this book or what it was about. I have read this book twice and I just have no clue what happened. I can’t remember anything about it. I really hope no one asks me what this book is about because I wouldn’t have a clue what to tell them. Even the first book, I have a vague idea of what happens but I can’t remember it fully. So this series is just very forgetful for me. I mean I loved the books when I read them but obviously the writing isn’t that memorable if I can’t remember anything about the plot or the characters.

Books I Didn’t Finish in 2017

Hey guys! Since we are near the end of the year, I’m going to be doing all those end of the year posts where I look back on all the books I picked up in 2017. Kick starting it with books I didn’t finish in 2017 but luckily I didn’t pay for these. I received them all via NetGalley apart from the last one which I did purchase, unfortunately.

Godblind1) Godblind by Anna Stephens

I pretty much requested this book just for the cover and went into it not having a clue what it was about. Very bad thing to do – wouldn’t recommend it because I hated this book. I think I got around 20% in before finally relieving myself of this torture. I didn’t like a single page that I read. I couldn’t get into the story and I was frustrated by how many different perspectives there was. I found it confusing to follow and didn’t really understand what was happening. The characters didn’t interest me either, I didn’t connect with any of them. In all honesty if I’d have read the synopsis before requesting it, I’d have probably said to myself this is a book you will not like. So now I am definitely more cautious about what books I request!

Authors I Would Love to Meet!

Hey guys! I have been trying to think of new posts that I can do and I came across this old Top 5 Wednesday post and thought it would be quite fun to do! I’m sure some of you already know a few authors I’d like to meet so lets get into it!

1) Cassandra Clare

You all knew Cassie was going to be on this list! It was a very obvious choice because I looooove her! So freaking much! I have a signed book courtesy of Waterstones but I have sadly never had the opportunity to meet her. She goes to big cities and I don’t really live in a well known city and the ones I do live near she never comes to! Very sad times. I would love to listen to her talk for hours about Shadowhunters and the future series she is planning to write! She is my auto-buy author, I am just so in love with her writing and her characters. I would love to meet her!

Books I Read in One Sitting!

Hey guys! I have read a lot of books in one sitting but sadly I don’t really have the time anymore to read them that fast. It usually takes me a few days or a few weeks now to read a book. Quite a few books popped into my head when I thought of this post so I thought it would be fun to do anyway and and the ones I have picked are ones that I remember reading the most either because I really enjoyed them or they were really shocking reads.

the-fault-in-our-stars1) The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

I obviously picked up this book because of all the hype surrounding it and I was really hesitant because I do not usually enjoy these types of books just because I don’t like reading books that are sad or have made people cry. Anyway, I started reading it and I could not put it down! I was hooked from the very first page and I just kept turning page after page just because it was so easy to read and I loved the characters. I had already been spoiled on the ending so I didn’t cry and I didn’t really find it that sad, either. I thought it would be more emotional but that might be because I already knew it was coming. Maybe if I didn’t I might have found it more emotional? I don’t know. This was my first John Green book and I am super happy about that because I absolutely hated his other books! If I’d have picked up his other books before this one I’d have probably not even bothered to read this, so I’m happy I read this first because I did really enjoy it!

Most Anticipated 2017 Releases! (#1)

This is a really short list because all of these are released in early 2017 and I don’t really know of any others in late 2017 yet so I’ll probably do another anticipated releases later on in the year. I’m very excited for these books and they are all released quite close together, yay!

carve-the-mark1) Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth

I was so excited to read this when I first heard she was writing it! It feels like I have been waiting forever for it! It sounds like it’s going to be really good and it’s out the 17th January so not that much longer to wait! I really hope it’s worth the wait! It sounds a bit like An Ember in the Ashes – two people from two different worlds coming together to help one another survive. It will probably be a lot different but they sound a bit alike and I really enjoyed Ember so hopefully I will enjoy this one, too. The cover looks amazing, so eye-catching!

Top 5 Wednesday: Characters You Used to Love but Don’t Anymore

Hey guys! This week’s topic is characters you used to love but don’t anymore! You either outgrew them or your outlook changed and now you can’t stand them. Maybe you don’t even hate them, you just are neutral about them when you used to run a fan blog about them. This group was created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey) and is hosted by Sam (ThoughtsOnTomes). If you want to participate, check out the link on Goodreads here.

This topic is so interesting and I had to think real hard about it but I came up with some characters. I’d be interested to know if you guys share the same characters as me!

fallen1)  Lucinda Price (Fallen by Lauren Kate)

I really liked Luce when I first started reading the Fallen series. But… when I got to the second or third book I found myself disliking her more and more. She just became really annoying and brought every book down. I liked all the other characters it was just Luce I really started to hate which is annoying since she is the main freaking character! I really can’t remember how or why I finished these books since I disliked Luce so much… I guess I just really needed to know how it was all going to end?

Top 5 Wednesday: Books That Took You the Longest to Finish

Hey guys! This group was created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey) and is hosted by Sam (ThoughtsOnTomes). If you want to participate, check out the link on Goodreads here.

I thought this was quite a fun choice for this week and I really enjoyed writing this post! But these books really were a struggle to finish and I couldn’t wait to dive into a book I would actually enjoy. Basically, if you really liked these books then maybe don’t read my comments because they aren’t pretty.

Ice like fire1) Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch

I freaking loved Snow Like Ashes, it was such an amazing fantasy book and I was so excited to get my hands on the second book Ice Like Fire. But, unfortunately, it was a massive let down compared to the first book. I have no idea what happened but the story just fell flat for me it really dragged on and I grew so bored of reading this book. It definitely wasn’t as enjoyable and Mather had a few chapters but he didn’t bring anything new or exciting to the story, he just complained about how horrible his life was and I absolutely hate whiny characters. I just can’t stand them, they ruin the book. I have got the last book Frost Like Night which I am excited to read and I’m really hoping it is a lot better than the second book!

Top 5 Wednesday: Characters You WOULDN’T Want to Trade Places With

This group was created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey) and is hosted by Sam (ThoughtsOnTomes). If you want to participate, check out the link on Goodreads here.

This is such an interesting topic for this week! I’m excited to do this but I feel kind of bad for the characters I’m choosing! If you haven’t read any of these books, please do not read my reasons for not trading places because there will be spoilers.

A Thousand Pieces of You1) Marguerite Caine (A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray)

Whilst I think it would be freaking awesome travelling to alternate dimensions, you are pretty much stealing another person’s body and controlling them which isn’t fun at all as Marguerite learns during Ten Thousand Skies Above You. Plus, after what happened to her dad and Theo, it is quite a dangerous game to play.
