Top 5 Wednesday: Books You Want to Read Before 2019

Hey guys! I’ve just had to sift through all of my unread books on Goodreads and pick out five that I want to read before the end of the year. I’ve done this post twice on my blog already and failed miserable, so my chances of succeeding at reading these books before January 2019 are super slim. But I’m going to post about it anyway! Enjoy!

A Map of Days by Ransom Riggs: So I have only just recently acquired this book as I met Ransom Riggs last week (see my previous post!) and it’s definitely a top priority read for the last stretch of 2018. It’s been two years since I read about these characters, so I am really excited we get to spend more time with them! I have heard absolutely nothing about this book, I just know they are in America. As it’s quite a hefty book I will probably read it over Christmas now.

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare: This book isn’t even out yet but we are so freaking close, so it had to go on this list! It comes out the fourth of December, wow! I am so, so, so excited! I left it so late to read Lord of Shadows but not with this one! As soon as I have it, I will start reading it! After that explosive and devastating ending, I really can’t wait to see what happens next!

The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer! I finished Ragdoll by Daniel Cole a few days before Christmas (review coming soon) and I really didn’t want to read any other books my mind was completely set on The Chemist. I have been carrying it around everywhere with me and I am really enjoying it so far. I am so happy Stephenie has brought out a new book and good for her for trying new things! I will wholeheartedly support any book she writes and I am so excited to get properly into this because at the minute I’m not very far in. I can’t wait to write a review on it, too!

Synopsis:

She used to work for the U.S. government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn’t even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning.

Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They’ve killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.

When her former handler offers her a way out, she realises it’s her only chance to erase the giant target on her back. But it means taking one last job for her ex-employers. To her horror, the information she acquires makes her situation even more dangerous.

Resolving to meet the threat head-on, she prepares for the toughest fight of her life but finds herself falling for a man who can only complicate her likelihood of survival. As she sees her choices being rapidly whittled down, she must apply her unique talents in ways she never dreamed of.

In this tautly plotted novel, Stephenie Meyer creates a fierce and fascinating new heroine with a very specialised skill set. And she shows once again why she’s one of the world’s bestselling authors.

December TBR!

I cannot believe it is December already! Seriously where has 2016 gone? Not that I will miss it because it wasn’t the best year so I’m excited to see what 2017 will bring! My TBR for this month will be quite small because I imagine I’ll be working a lot since December will be a busy month. I’m super excited for Christmas, I’ll be counting down the days!

tales-from-the-shadowhunter-academy1) Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson and Robin Wasserman

This was on my TBR for last month but because it’s such a huge book I only managed to read half of it! I actually finished it yesterday though and it was a really amazing book! I’ll be posting a review soon!

Synopsis:

Simon Lewis has been a human and a vampire and now he is becoming a Shadowhunter. But the events of City of Heavenly Fire left him stripped of his memories, and Simon isn’t sure who he is any more. He knows he was friends with Clary and that he convinced the total goddess Isabelle Lightwood to go out with him … but he doesn’t know how.  So when the Shadowhunter Academy reopens, he throws himself into a new world of demon-hunting, determined to find himself again, rediscover his relationships and ascend as a true Shadowhunter. But he soon realises that nothing is ever straightforward at the Academy…

September TBR!

This is the most exciting month EVER because all the book releases happen this month, yesyesyes! I can’t be the only person completely freaking out about all these new books! I have been waiting so long for some of them. There are some that come out near the end of September so they will probably be on my October TBR. Anyway, here is a list of books that I plan on reading this month:

A-Torch-Against-The-Night-Tahir1) A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir

This beautiful book comes out in the UK 8th September! I’m crying at people who’ve already read it because it was released in the US yesterday, I think. I can’t wait to read it and review it! An Ember in the Ashes was one of the best books I’ve read this year and I am ridiculously excited to see if A Torch Against the Night is the same or better!

I am halfway through Demon Hunters: Trinity by Olivia Chase. It’s another ARC I found on NetGalley and so far I’m really enjoying it! It was recommended for fans of Cassandra Clare and that made me super curious to read it because I love Cassie’s books! This book is really interesting and I love all of the characters. I’m enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would! I have only read a little of Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi as I’m focusing more on finishing the first book. But this is also another book I’m thoroughly enjoying!
