Favourite Books of 2019!

Hey guys! Today I am bringing you my favourite books of 2019 – these are all books I rated five stars and highly, highly enjoyed. Mid-July I posted my top five books of 2019 so far and since then I’ve only rated two more books five stars. So I don’t have as many five star reads as last year but that’s okay because I feel like I’ve discovered some pretty amazing books and authors. I won’t go into a lot of detail of the five I already covered in July because I feel like I’ve talked about them so much already. Let’s get into the list:

Caraval, Legendary & Finale by Stephanie Garber: Caraval has completely blown me away; I love this world and these characters so much. I rated all three books five stars because I was utterly entranced throughout the whole series. The characters felt so alive and honestly the story was so magical. I loved Scarlett and Tella so much and it was so nice reading a book about such a strong sibling bond and how they would do anything for each other. This trilogy was wrapped up so nicely but I’m really sad now that it’s ended. I’d definitely recommend this for fantasy lovers.

Nevermind Book Tag!

Hey guys! Today I am bringing you the Nevermind Book Tag which was recently created by readinginfinitely. I love finding new tags to do and this one seemed like a lot of fun! It’s goes through books or series you changed your mind about and I don’t think I’ve done anything like this on my blog before so I’m excited to share my choices with all of you! So let’s get into it!

Shatter Me

A book you rated high but have now changed your mind and/or a book you’ve rated low and changed your mind

For a book you rated high but have now change your mind about I’m going to go with Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. When I first read Shatter Me in 2016 (Was that really 3 years ago?) I rated it 5 stars just because it was so different and I loved Tahereh’s writing style. However, I reread it this year and only gave it 3 stars. I didn’t think there was much of a plot; it was all very repetitious and I couldn’t justify giving it higher than that. Also I read in a couple reviews that there was massive character development by the end of the book but I didn’t think there was? I was disappointed to give it such a low rating but I didn’t enjoy it all that much.

Top 5 Books of 2019 (So far!)

Hey guys! Since I recently did the mid-year freak out book tag, I thought I’d have a look at what some of my favourite reads have been for the first half of 2019. So far I’ve read 51 books and I’ve only rated 5 of them 5 stars so I haven’t had many that have blown my socks off. You probably already know what these are since I’ve gushed about them a fair bit.

Vengeful by V.E. Schwab: V.E. Schwab deserves so much love. She has easily become one of my favourite authors and I haven’t even read all of her books yet! The ones I have read I have fallen in love with her writing, her characters and her worlds. I thought her Shades of Magic series was fantastic and nothing could beat it but then I read her Villains series and what can I say? It became my new favourite. Vengeful was such an exciting read. I know Victor and Eli are very evil characters but I love them – they are really fascinating characters! I just love how they started out wanting to be heroes and had completely good intentions but then it all went quickly downhill. I can’t say a lot about this one since it’s the sequel but please know that it was the easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given!

The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare: As soon as this book was announced I knew it would be 5 stars, come on. A book about Alec and Magnus? Two of my absolute favourite characters? Hell yes. This was a surprisingly short book for Cassie – I guess you could say it was short but sweet. I loved being able to see their tentative first steps in their relationship and watching it grow throughout. I desperately wanted more of these two in The Mortal Instruments so I was very pleased with this one. I can’t wait for the next book!

July 2019 TBR!

Hey guys! Happy Wednesday! Today I’m bringing you my July TBR. I’ve got quite a mix planned for this month and what I think are some pretty exciting reads since they are my most anticipated! Here’s what I plan on reading:

The Spider Dance by Nick Setchfield: This is the sequel to The War in the Dark and one of my most anticipated reads! I absolutely loved the first book, it was such a thrilling story. It’s like a mixture of crime, fantasy, historical fiction and science fiction. I’ve already started this one and I’m completely immersed in the story; I’m really enjoying it and can’t wait to share my thoughts with you in my review!

June 2019 TBR!

Hey guys! Today I am bringing you my June TBR. I read quite a lot of crime thriller last month so for June I want to mix it up a bit and read some fantasy! Here’s what I want to read:

Wildcard by Marie Lu: I read Warcross on the weekend and it was actually really good! It was action-packed and had really interesting characters. I became so invested in the story and I loved the massive twist at the end! I ordered Wildcard straight away and I cannot wait to read it now! I’m so, so excited to see what happens and who’ll come out on top since I don’t think Marie follows conventional endings.

FairyLoot Finale Collector’s Edition Unboxing!

Hey guys! I’m late to the party with this unboxing but I am really excited about all the items so I thought it was still worth sharing! My box shipped really late and then took four days to arrive which means that I, unfortunately, was spoiled for EVERYTHING. Very sad times but I think FairyLoot did a fantastic job with this box — there’s so many gorgeous items!

Thankfully I have better pictures this time because it’s actually light outside when I get home from work now, yay!

March 2019 TBR!

Hey guys! Today I am bringing you my March TBR and I’ve said this so many times before but I really need to start posting my TBRs earlier! It seems that I always finish books before I’ve posted about wanting to read them and I still haven’t learned from my mistakes! Oh well! This month I’d like to read five books but since I’ve already finished one I might be able to read more, yay! Here’s what I’ve set myself this month:

Legendary by Stephanie Garber: So… I finished this book last night but I guess it was on my TBR anyways so I’m still going to include it. Normally I am terrible for getting to sequels after I’ve finished the first book but I was completely blown away by Caraval and had to pick Legendary up straight away. Now I am miffed I have to wait until May for the last book! I thought it was out sooner than that but after a quick look on Amazon, I have to wait until then. SIGH. I have no idea what to expect from the third one now because this series has been nothing like I was expecting and I’m really intrigued by it all!

February 2019 Wrap Up!

Hey guys! Today I am bringing you my February wrap up and I think my reading slump is finally over as I managed to read everything that was on my TBR! The first two books I didn’t enjoy but the last two were incredible and a great way to end the month! Here’s what I read:

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare: I finally finished this beast and while it wasn’t my favourite or anything like I was expecting, it was still a nice ending to this trilogy. I didn’t enjoy how the fantasy part took a backseat to the romance and how heavily it focused on events that happened in City of Heavenly Fire but I can’t deny that Cassie knows how to make her fans happy. Despite not enjoying this one, I’m still very much looking forward to her three 2019 releases! Also looking forward to seeing more of these characters and hopefully some better plots for them!

February 2019 TBR!

Hey guys! I don’t know about you but I’m so glad January is over now. It was such an awful month and it felt so long! I’m looking forward to pulling myself out of my slump this month and getting much more books read! You’re probably wondering why I’m even setting myself a TBR this month after the disaster that was January but it is with good reason. If I don’t set myself something, I know I won’t end up reading anything. Here is what I’m hoping to read:

Vengeful by V.E. Schwab: The first book I want to tackle this month is Vengeful! I’m going away this weekend and will be taking this with me so I don’t end up on my iPad binge watching The Office which I have seen so many times! I started it last year and got about 60 pages in and I already could tell I would love it so I am really hoping I’ll be able to fly through it over the weekend! I might potentially restart it in case I’ve forgotten anything as I wasn’t that far in.
