Review of 2018!

Hey guys! I hope everyone is enjoying the first day of 2019! Today I thought I’d review 2018 as I had a pretty great year for reading. I was definitely not expecting to read as much as I did and even though it was a pretty rubbish year, I’m pleased it didn’t affect my reading. So here’s my review of 2018:

So I set a goal of 30 books at the start of the year then I gradually upped it each time I surpassed my challenge. I capped it at 60 but then ended up reading 71 books which is amazing. I am delighted with that and hoping I can manage to read the same, if not more, in 2019!

July Wrap Up!

Hey guys! I managed to read 8 books this month and I am so flipping happy with myself! I’ve never read this many books in one month and kept at it! Not too long ago I was struggling to read 4 books in a month and now I’m reading double that! I know a lot of people can read 15 or 20 in one month but to read 8 for me is a massive achievement and I’m super happy with myself! I also read a variety this month and didn’t just stick to the usual YA fantasy or crime thriller. Here’s what I managed to read:

The Rose Society The Midnight Star by Marie Lu: It definitely doesn’t feel like I finished this trilogy this month, feels like I read it about 4 months ago instead! This month has been a weird one, it feels like it has dragged but at the same time I’m like how the hell is it August already?! I posted a mini review for this series and if you’ve read it then you’ll know I was disappointed with this trilogy. I thought the second book was the best as it went from strength to strength the more the story progressed but then the third book felt like it was taking a step back. It was so boring and so slow, there was no development and I just felt detached from everything. I’m not sure if I will keep these books or not because I doubt I’ll read it them second time. It just wasn’t for me really and every book just left me wanting more but it failed to deliver on that sadly.

I was sent an ARC for review by the publisher, so big thank you to them! I absolutely love the cover, it’s so beautiful and it sounds really intriguing. I love the supernatural and I love crime thrillers, so two of my favourite things in one book is awesome! I’m honestly not very far in yet so I don’t have much of an opinion but my curiosity is piqued. So far it seems good though and I can’t wait to get further in. I’m definitely interested in the supernatural side of the story. It’s only 250 pages so hopefully I’ll finish it over the next couple of days and have a review up for it soon!
