April Wrap Up! (7 books!!!!)

Hey guys! I have no idea what happened but I had an amazing read month! You all know I read four books in one month normally, but this month I managed to read SEVEN BOOKS (Yes, that’s right!!!!) and I am just completely floored. Who am I?? This is definitely the best reading month I have had in a while! My friend set me five and I blasted through them and then picked up two more books for myself to finish the month off with. Here’s what I read:

A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir: I knew she would pick this and I’m so glad she did! It wasn’t as exciting as the first book and was definitely slower but I still really enjoyed it and I love the characters even more now! I can’t wait for the third book to come out! I have a full review up if you want to check that out!

Nightfall by Jake Halpern and Peter Kujawinski: This was definitely the worst book I read this month! It was so bad and I’m definitely going to chuck it (not really – I am going to donate it). The writing was appalling and I wanted to tear my eyes out. Reading it was like watching paint dry, I was so damn bored. The characters had zero personality and their interactions with one another were so bland. They literally got left behind on an island with a bunch of demons and there was no sense of urgency or fear about the situation. The story was so messed up I had no idea what was happening and the creepy stuff that did happen made no damn sense. A good idea for a book but poorly, poorly executed.

November Wrap Up!

Hey guys! I didn’t do too well with my reading this month. I read two full books and two short stories. Yup, not great! I found myself going into a bit of a slump, unfortunately. So I still have six books to read in December if I want to complete my reading challenge. But I have a week off at Christmas and no plans so I think this is plenty time to catch up if I fall behind.

The Devil's Claw1) The Devil’s Claw by Lara Dearman

If you’ve read my review for this then you will know that I really liked it but I just wanted it to be more exciting. It does suffer a little because it’s the first book in a series but I really liked all the characters. It’s about a serial killer who has been killing young girls for decades and making them look like suicides. Very interesting idea and I think Lara pulled it off really well. I just wanted the identity of the killer to be revealed earlier on because the book is nearly 400 pages long, but you don’t find out who the killer is until the last 20 pages or so. I think this is too long to wait and it needed to be revealed earlier. But I was kept in the dark the whole time and didn’t have a clue who the serial killer was. So I was quite surprised when it all came out which I liked!

May Wrap Up!

Hey guys! I read five books this month and I am incredibly happy with that! I have loved every single book I’ve read! Some of the books I read were very random and spontaneous. I read a couple books on my TBR but then I also read some books I wasn’t planning on reading.

If We Were Villains1) If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio

I really loved this book! It was such a dark and twisted story. I knew from the synopsis that a character died and right from the start I was trying to read the characters thinking is it you? Are you the one who dies? When I reached that part of the book, I was so freaking shocked! I would never have predicted that, I actually thought quite the opposite. It was such a great twist and it was really interesting how the other characters reacted to that characters death. It’s funny because they are all actors so they can hide their true emotions behind a mask since they are used to doing that anyway. Such a great idea for a story. I can’t wait to post my full review this month! I just need to get all my thoughts and feelings down!

March Wrap Up!

Hey guys! This month has gone by crazy fast, I’m so shocked that it’s April already! This month has been a blast for me and I’ve had a lot of fun! I’ve been on a couple trips with my family and I really enjoyed them! I’m kind of surprised with what I’ve read this month because I thought I’d read more than that but I guess not because I can’t think of any other books! Hopefully next month I can read more because whilst this isn’t a bad number, I’d like to read a couple more next month.

Follow Me Down1) Follow Me Down by Sherri Smith

This was very kindly sent to me by Titan Books for review and it was one of the best crime thrillers I’ve read! I really loved it because it constantly had me guessing what was going to happen and every time I was blown away by an insane plot twist! I was left gobsmacked by the ending! Highly recommend this book and my full review will be up on Monday if you want to check that out!

February Wrap Up!

I am pretty pleased with the books I managed to read this month! Although I read more at the start of the month than I did at the end!

Nevernight1) Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

I’m still unsure of whether or not I will read the second book in this series! I thought it was a standalone and I’m a little disappointed that it’s not because it was a good story but I don’t feel like I can commit to a series? Like the start of the book was so boring and confusing but then it got so damn good and I really enjoyed the second half! Maybe if the cover is as gorgeous as this one I’ll get it because I can’t resist having a pretty cover on my shelf, it’s so bad.

December Wrap Up!

How is it 2017 tomorrow? How!? I don’t understand how we are here already! Although I am glad because 2016 was such an awful year and I just want to forget about it. December was a slightly better month and it has made the year end nicely so hopefully January will be an awesome start to the new year!

I managed to read three books this month and I am pretty happy with that! I, unfortunately, didn’t manage to reach my goal of fifty books but I did read forty and you know what? I am happy with that! Forty books is pretty good for me and I think I will just set another target of fifty books in 2017 and see how I do. Here are the books I read this month:

tales-from-the-shadowhunter-academy1) Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson and Robin Wasserman

I really liked this book but the ending was pretty disappointing and I don’t understand why Cassie chose that ending… Apart from that, it was really enjoyable and better than The Bane Chronicles. The chapters were more engaging and although some of them dragged, I enjoyed the majority of them.

September Wrap Up!

September has been an absolutely terrible reading month for me. I have read three books this month. Three books. I am so disappointed! It’s been a really busy month and I’ve just not had a lot of time to read. Here is what I did manage to read:

demon-hunters1) Demon Hunters: Trinity by Olivia Chase

I received this on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. It was quite good but I just felt that I was a little too old for it and it was suited more for younger readers. There were some parts that annoyed me and didn’t really make sense. I’m not sure if I will read the next book it really depends on the synopsis. It’s about called Diana who feels that she has never really had a normal life. Her dad is an occult hunter and published author so she finds herself uprooted by investigations and this time she is moving to Edinburgh. It’s not long before her recurring nightmares start coming true and her destiny changes forever. After her dad goes missing, she becomes part of a Trinity of Demon Hunters. Along with her two new friends, she needs to face down death, rescue her dad and save their city. There’s only one question left to answer: how do you kill a dead man? You can read my full review here.

August Wrap Up!

I read four books and one short story this month, and I’m pretty happy with that! My reading for this month had a slow start but I soon caught up and got a decent amount read. No, I did not read all of the books on my TBR but I will read them this month, for sure. These are the amazing books I read this month:

Library of Souls1) Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs

I absolutely adored this series but I was a little disappointed with Library of Souls and felt that it dragged a bit. I just thought it wasn’t as interesting as the previous books and it didn’t really get good until the end. The ending really made up for it though, it was absolutely insane! It was a nice ending to the series. If you like, you can read my full review here.

July Wrap Up!

I’m quite happy with the books I read this month, I really enjoyed them and I already have an idea of what I want to read in August. For once I’m planning what to read! I normally just pick up whatever I feel like because I never stick to TBR lists. Anyway, here is what I read this month:

A Thousand Pieces of You1) A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray

I really liked this book and thought it had a unique story. I thought that it was well thought out and it definitely had a lot of detail and it was presented really well. It switches between the past and the present throughout which I really liked because it doesn’t dump the story on you all at once but instead takes the time to explain everything to you. Unfortunately, one thing I didn’t like was the characters. I didn’t like Marguerite as much as I hoped and I definitely did not like the romance in this. I didn’t connect with Marguerite and Paul at all and I just couldn’t see how they were together. I really loved Theo and by the end of the book, he was my favourite character. You can read my full review here.
