Books That Surprised Me!

Hey guys! Today I am doing something a little different… I am going to talk about books that I thought I wouldn’t like but actually ended up loving! These are books that either belong to a genre that I don’t normally read or heard bad things about which put me off reading the book. But in the end it didn’t really matter because I ended up loving them anyway! So lets get into it!

Me before you

1) Me Before You by JoJo Moyes

This book belongs to a genre that I really love to avoid and definitely do not read. Yes, that is correct. I am not a fan of romance books. I’m just not a very romantic person and reading about other people falling in love is just not something I want to do. The reason why I read Me Before You though is because my friend wrote a review for it on her blog and she made it sound really interesting. She asked me to read it and it was really cheap on Amazon so I just decided to buy it and give it a shot. I actually ended up really loving it and I ended up reading it really quickly because I was just so absorbed in the story. I loved all the characters and I was really not expecting the ending. This book was nothing like I thought it would be and it exceeded my expectations. I ended up watching the film and that was such a wonderful portrayal of the book, I loved it! I have the second book After You but I’m not sure if I’m going to read it or not because I’ve not heard great things about it. I am disappointed about that but to be honest I was happy with the first book being a standalone and didn’t see the reason for a second book. So I don’t know what I will do yet about that! I need someone to convince me to read it!

October Wrap Up!

Hey guys! I can’t BELIEVE it’s November today, what the hell?! I was looking at my reading challenge and I’ve read 40/50 books. So I have to read five books in November and five books in December. This is going to be tough but I really don’t want to fail my reading challenge, I’m so close!

I managed to read three books this month and one short story. I don’t think that’s bad but I would have liked to have read one or two more. I literally read them all at the start of the month and then the last two weeks I have been flat out tired. I got home from work and went straight to bed, I just couldn’t read. I was too tired.

Mirror, Mirror1) Mirror, Mirror by Cara Delevingne

GUYS! Before I tell you all (again!) how amazing this book is, I got a limited edition tote bag prize for pre-ordering the book! If you pre-ordered the book you could email your receipt to the publisher and be in with a chance of winning 1 of 500 tote bags. I got really excited about this so I entered but then I completely forgot about it. It came in this massive box and I was like what the hell is this? Proceed to me squealing in excitement when I opened it and saw the beautiful tote bag! You can never have too many tote bags for all your beautiful books!

So anyways, this book was amazing! Cara did a fantastic job with the characters, I loved them all so much. I flew through this book, it was really addicting and exciting. There was never a dull moment and I was hooked all the way through! I was definitely not expecting this from Cara and I can’t wait to see if she writes anymore books in the future!

Ridiculous October Book Haul!

Hey guys! I am calling this the Ridiculous October Book Haul because I bought a ridiculous amount of books this month! Stating the obvious, much? I honestly think this crazy book obsessed demon possessed me at the start of the month and went on a massive splurge in Waterstones. In our defence, I bought some beautiful books and scored a few signed ones!

1) La Belle Sauvage: The Book of Dust Volume One by Philip Pullman

I was seriously excited for this book and when I saw Waterstones had a special signed edition limited to 5,000 copies for £35 I had to get one. I had to. So imagine my relief when they’d all sold out and I’d pre-ordered one the day they released them on the website. But imagine my disappointment when I got home and noticed it was damaged. I was heartbroken. I took it back to Waterstones but obviously I couldn’t get another because they’d all sold out. They knocked £10 off so I only ended up paying £25 but it still kind of annoys me. Despite the fault it is a truly beautiful book and they’ve done an amazing job. Alongside this I also got the £10 hardback so these two books were an expensive buy.

WWW Wednesday!

Hey guys! It’s been over a month since my last Top 5 Wednesday post and since I’ve been reading quite a bit recently I thought I’d update you all on where I’m up to with my books! Even though I work forty hours a week now I still find time to read on the train journey to work, on my break and then I get in a few hours before I go to bed. I’ve been told by so many people that they quit reading when they got a full time job and I’m determined not to do the same. I love reading and won’t let a job get in the way of that! So let me share my recent reads with you all!

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words.

Currently reading:

If I Die Before I Wake by Emily Koch: This book is just insane! Insane! I’m sure I’ve already spoken about it but basically the main character is in a coma after he was involved in an accident and his family are debating withdrawing life support. He’s aware of everything that’s going on around him but he can’t move or speak. He can’t do anything, he can only listen. He begins to suspect the accident that put him in hospital wasn’t an accident and that someone actually tried to kill him. So now he has to try and solve his own murder before his family decide to let him go. This is such an amazing and creative idea for a story??? I’m just blown away by it??? I’ve nearly finished this book and I’m so excited to see how it all ends! I have no idea what’s going to happen, I’m completely in the dark and I love it! I’m completely hooked on this story and I can’t wait to write a review for this book!

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood by Oliver Bowden: I read the first Assassin’s Creed book in April which honestly seems like a lifetime ago now! When I started this I hadn’t realised how much I’d actually missed Ezio and how much I’d miss this world. I sat down with this book before bed and when I went to turn my light out I realised I’d already read 100 pages which is just insane. This is just a book you can truly get lost in and I can’t wait to lose myself some more in these pages!

Exciting October Book Releases!

Hey guys! October is going to be fantastic! It’s all happening! I’ve poured all of my excitement for these amazing books coming out in October into this post because I feel like I’m going to explode if don’t talk about them! Hopefully you are just as excited as me for them and if not, then I hope you have some other exciting books coming out too!

Shadowblack1) Shadowblack by Sebastien De Castell

I’m so shocked this book is coming out next week! Finally a sequel we don’t have to wait a year for, hallelujah! I read the first one not too long ago and it was amazing, I gave it five stars on Goodreads. It had the best plot twist I have come across in a while. It honestly left me with my jaw hanging open, it was so shocking and unexpected. I loved it! Kellen was a completely different person by the end of the book because of this and I’m so looking forward to meeting this new Kellen in Shadowblack! I’m also excited to see the thieving squirrel cat again, he’s so sarcastic! This book comes out 5th October and I’m counting down the days!
