Authors I Am Waiting on Another Book From!

Hey guys! I found this when I was searching old Top 5 Wednesday topics and thought it would be a fun post to do! I’ll be talking about new authors I discovered last year and old favourites and how I am impatiently waiting for new books from these amazing writers! I hope you enjoy!

M.L. Rio and Emily Koch

These were two of my favourite reads last year and they are debut novels too! I was completely blown away by the story, the writing and the characters. I was hooked from start to finish and was unable to put both books down. Both authors are so incredibly talented and both books contained such heartbreaking scenes. I was not expecting these books to be as great as they were and after finishing them, I was letting wanting more from both authors! I’m going to be waiting very impatiently for them to write their next book and hopefully they will be as dazzling as their debut novels!

January Book Haul!

Hey guys! This month was just crime thriller month! I just bought lots and lots of crime thrillers! I didn’t mean to buy so many books this month but it just kind of happened. They were cheap, they were pretty, they were intriguing and they tempted me. So here is my January book haul in all it’s glory!

Fear1) Fear by Dirk Kurbjuweit

I have been waiting a year to read this book so as soon as the publication date hit, I ordered a copy on Amazon. Unfortunately I checked reviews and it doesn’t have great reviews. Really sad about this because I really wanted this to be such a mind-blowing book! I’m still going to read it since I’ve been waiting so long for it to come out. I might be a bit hesitant though going into it and won’t expect too much from it so I’m not as disappointed!

Favourite Books of 2017!

Hey guys! I read so many amazing books this year, it was such a struggle picking my top five. I’m very sad that Lord of Shadows didn’t make this list but I really didn’t enjoy that book so there’s no point putting it on here. I’m very happy with my choices though, all of these books were absolutely fantastic! So lets get into it!

If We Were Villains1) If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio

I received an ARC of this from the publisher and it was honestly the best book I’ve read this year by far. Oliver has just served ten years in prison for a murder he may or may not have committed. The detective who put him in prison is retiring and he wants to know the truth about what really happened a decade before. So Oliver begins to tell the story of seven friends who were actors at an elite arts conservatory. They all played the same roles onstage and off. But then there is a casting change and a good-natured rivalry turns ugly, and the play spills dangerously over into life. One of the seven friends turns up dead and they all have to convince the police, and themselves, that they are blameless. It was such a fantastic story because since they were actors the police had no way to tell if they were being lied to or not. I really loved this book and can’t wait to see what other books M.L. Rio writes in the future!

The Candy Book Tag!

Hey guys! It’s been a while since I did a book tag. I think my last one was in June? Haven’t really seen any since that I have felt like doing but then this one caught my eye! I mean, I really like food and I really like books, so it’s the perfect book tag! To avoid repeating a lot of what I’ve said in my previous tags, I’ll only talk about books I’ve read or seen on the shelves this year. So lets get into it!

Turtles All the Way DownApples: Ah. Healthy food. It is deep, meaningful, and probably won a lot of awards but, um, it really isn’t your thing.

Everyone is literally raving about this book. Like full on raving about it. It is probably a very deep and meaningful book because it’s written by John Green, but I have no interest in reading it. I have read a few of his other books, didn’t like them, so I won’t be reading this one. I just don’t enjoy his style of writing and find his books very difficult to read, even if he writes very relatable books. The only one I liked was The Fault in Our Stars so do with that what you will.

October Wrap Up!

Hey guys! I can’t BELIEVE it’s November today, what the hell?! I was looking at my reading challenge and I’ve read 40/50 books. So I have to read five books in November and five books in December. This is going to be tough but I really don’t want to fail my reading challenge, I’m so close!

I managed to read three books this month and one short story. I don’t think that’s bad but I would have liked to have read one or two more. I literally read them all at the start of the month and then the last two weeks I have been flat out tired. I got home from work and went straight to bed, I just couldn’t read. I was too tired.

Mirror, Mirror1) Mirror, Mirror by Cara Delevingne

GUYS! Before I tell you all (again!) how amazing this book is, I got a limited edition tote bag prize for pre-ordering the book! If you pre-ordered the book you could email your receipt to the publisher and be in with a chance of winning 1 of 500 tote bags. I got really excited about this so I entered but then I completely forgot about it. It came in this massive box and I was like what the hell is this? Proceed to me squealing in excitement when I opened it and saw the beautiful tote bag! You can never have too many tote bags for all your beautiful books!

So anyways, this book was amazing! Cara did a fantastic job with the characters, I loved them all so much. I flew through this book, it was really addicting and exciting. There was never a dull moment and I was hooked all the way through! I was definitely not expecting this from Cara and I can’t wait to see if she writes anymore books in the future!

WWW Wednesday!

Hey guys! It’s been over a month since my last Top 5 Wednesday post and since I’ve been reading quite a bit recently I thought I’d update you all on where I’m up to with my books! Even though I work forty hours a week now I still find time to read on the train journey to work, on my break and then I get in a few hours before I go to bed. I’ve been told by so many people that they quit reading when they got a full time job and I’m determined not to do the same. I love reading and won’t let a job get in the way of that! So let me share my recent reads with you all!

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words.

To take part, all you have to do is answer the following questions:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently reading:

If I Die Before I Wake by Emily Koch: This book is just insane! Insane! I’m sure I’ve already spoken about it but basically the main character is in a coma after he was involved in an accident and his family are debating withdrawing life support. He’s aware of everything that’s going on around him but he can’t move or speak. He can’t do anything, he can only listen. He begins to suspect the accident that put him in hospital wasn’t an accident and that someone actually tried to kill him. So now he has to try and solve his own murder before his family decide to let him go. This is such an amazing and creative idea for a story??? I’m just blown away by it??? I’ve nearly finished this book and I’m so excited to see how it all ends! I have no idea what’s going to happen, I’m completely in the dark and I love it! I’m completely hooked on this story and I can’t wait to write a review for this book!

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood by Oliver Bowden: I read the first Assassin’s Creed book in April which honestly seems like a lifetime ago now! When I started this I hadn’t realised how much I’d actually missed Ezio and how much I’d miss this world. I sat down with this book before bed and when I went to turn my light out I realised I’d already read 100 pages which is just insane. This is just a book you can truly get lost in and I can’t wait to lose myself some more in these pages!

October TBR!

Hey guys! Since I’ve been working full time I’ve been really struggling to get a lot of books read and as a result my NetGalley books have piled up. So this month I am keen to get that pile down and as such will be reading three books (or trying to) from NetGalley! I am very excited to read these books as they are highly anticipated releases!

Zenith1) Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings

When I saw this book was on NetGalley I literally started freaking out because I am super excited to read this! I feel so grateful to have been approved because I honestly thought I’d be rejected! I’ve heard terrible things about this book to be honest but it hasn’t swayed me. I’m just too excited for this book to let anything get in the way of me reading it. I do really like Sasha’s videos but I’m not going to let that influence my opinion of her book. If I like it, yay! If not then that will be a shame but I will still continue to watch her videos!
