Books I Wish I Could Experience Again For the First Time

Hey guys! Today I’m going to talk about books that I’d love to experience again for the first time and I’m actually surprised I haven’t done this before on my blog. There’s so many books I’d love to read again for the first time, but these ones are really special and I have a different reason for each of them. So let’s get into it!

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I read this in 2013 and it has remained one of my all-time favourite books. I’ve talked about it a lot on my blog, especially in book tags. Any opportunity to talk about this book, I’ll grab it with both hands. Literally, any time someone asks me to recommend a book or asks me what my favourite book is, this is always the first one I talk about. I was really hesitant to read it at first because it’s set in Nazi Germany during World War II and I thought that I wouldn’t enjoy it because I was reading young adult and fantasy books at the time but it’s such an emotional and powerful story. It’s so captivating and even though I read it so long ago, I still think of the story and the characters every now and again. I cried so much while I was reading it, especially at the end. It was incredibly sad story, but Death made for such an interesting narrator and it’s what makes this book stand out for me. Now that I’m a lot older, I’m curious to know what my experience would be if I were to read it now. There’s not many books that make me cry now honestly, so I’m wondering if I’d still cry a lot. I probably would, there was a lot of really emotional scenes.

Top 5 Wednesday: BookTube Didn’t Make Me Read It

Hey guys! Today I am bringing you another Top 5 Wednesday post! I’ve been skipping a lot of the topics lately but this one sounded like fun. A lot of the books I read come from BookTube – it’s inevitable given how much time I spend watching book hauls, TBR and wrap up videos! – so I’m curious to see out of my read books which of them were influenced by other factors.

You by Caroline Kepnes: Netflix actually made me read this book! I’d never heard of it until the TV show was announced and I immediately added it to my wish list. My friend ended up buying me a copy as she really enjoyed it. Sadly, I wish it was the same for me! I found the book really boring and as I’ve heard the second book doesn’t get better, I won’t be continuing this series. The TV show, on the other hand, was much more interesting and complex and the characters were more engaging, Joe especially was a lot more deceiving. I liked seeing how charming and misleading he was with others. I also liked the relationship he built with Paco and the significance it had at the end of the season. I didn’t enjoy season two as much and struggled to finish each episode, but I’ll definitely be watching the third season. I’m curious to see what happens next with Joe and Love!

Top 5 Books of 2019 (So far!)

Hey guys! Since I recently did the mid-year freak out book tag, I thought I’d have a look at what some of my favourite reads have been for the first half of 2019. So far I’ve read 51 books and I’ve only rated 5 of them 5 stars so I haven’t had many that have blown my socks off. You probably already know what these are since I’ve gushed about them a fair bit.

Vengeful by V.E. Schwab: V.E. Schwab deserves so much love. She has easily become one of my favourite authors and I haven’t even read all of her books yet! The ones I have read I have fallen in love with her writing, her characters and her worlds. I thought her Shades of Magic series was fantastic and nothing could beat it but then I read her Villains series and what can I say? It became my new favourite. Vengeful was such an exciting read. I know Victor and Eli are very evil characters but I love them – they are really fascinating characters! I just love how they started out wanting to be heroes and had completely good intentions but then it all went quickly downhill. I can’t say a lot about this one since it’s the sequel but please know that it was the easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given!

The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare: As soon as this book was announced I knew it would be 5 stars, come on. A book about Alec and Magnus? Two of my absolute favourite characters? Hell yes. This was a surprisingly short book for Cassie – I guess you could say it was short but sweet. I loved being able to see their tentative first steps in their relationship and watching it grow throughout. I desperately wanted more of these two in The Mortal Instruments so I was very pleased with this one. I can’t wait for the next book!

FairyLoot Finale Collector’s Edition Unboxing!

Hey guys! I’m late to the party with this unboxing but I am really excited about all the items so I thought it was still worth sharing! My box shipped really late and then took four days to arrive which means that I, unfortunately, was spoiled for EVERYTHING. Very sad times but I think FairyLoot did a fantastic job with this box — there’s so many gorgeous items!

Thankfully I have better pictures this time because it’s actually light outside when I get home from work now, yay!

Top 5 Wednesday: Books You Thought You’d Hate But Ended Up Loving

Hey guys! I can’t remember the last time I did a Top 5 Wednesday post as I don’t really take part in them that often anymore but this topic looked like a lot of fun! There’s so many books that sprung to mind for this as they took me by complete surprise and I’m so excited to write another post gushing about them! So without any further ado, lets get into it! These are my top 5 picks:

Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart: I have said many, many times that I do not like books about Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses, royalty, thrones etc. so when this came in a Fairyloot box I fully expected to hate it. But I ended up being completely sucked into this world. I loved the plot, the sisters and how both of them ended up two completely different but equally terrifying situations. There was amazing character development as the story progresses which I was not expecting but I was fully on board with it! This book took me by complete surprise and I’m excited for the second book which comes out in July!

February 2019 Wrap Up!

Hey guys! Today I am bringing you my February wrap up and I think my reading slump is finally over as I managed to read everything that was on my TBR! The first two books I didn’t enjoy but the last two were incredible and a great way to end the month! Here’s what I read:

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare: I finally finished this beast and while it wasn’t my favourite or anything like I was expecting, it was still a nice ending to this trilogy. I didn’t enjoy how the fantasy part took a backseat to the romance and how heavily it focused on events that happened in City of Heavenly Fire but I can’t deny that Cassie knows how to make her fans happy. Despite not enjoying this one, I’m still very much looking forward to her three 2019 releases! Also looking forward to seeing more of these characters and hopefully some better plots for them!

February 2019 TBR!

Hey guys! I don’t know about you but I’m so glad January is over now. It was such an awful month and it felt so long! I’m looking forward to pulling myself out of my slump this month and getting much more books read! You’re probably wondering why I’m even setting myself a TBR this month after the disaster that was January but it is with good reason. If I don’t set myself something, I know I won’t end up reading anything. Here is what I’m hoping to read:

Vengeful by V.E. Schwab: The first book I want to tackle this month is Vengeful! I’m going away this weekend and will be taking this with me so I don’t end up on my iPad binge watching The Office which I have seen so many times! I started it last year and got about 60 pages in and I already could tell I would love it so I am really hoping I’ll be able to fly through it over the weekend! I might potentially restart it in case I’ve forgotten anything as I wasn’t that far in.

Top 5 Wednesday: Top of Your TBR

Hey guys! Today I am bringing you a TBR post for Top 5 Wednesday and I guess it is just your priority reads for 2019! There’s lots of books I’m itching to read all of a sudden and some of them with good reason, so let’s get into it!

Caraval & Legendary by Stephanie Garber: So FairyLoot announced that they will be doing a collector’s edition box for Finale by Stephanie Garber and even though I haven’t read the first two books (yet!), I am very interested in this. I really love the merch for these books and I’ve seen some really awesome quotes from Legendary. I think it goes on sale in March so that gives me a month to read the first two. If I don’t like them, I’ll probably pass on the box but maybe still buy odd bits of the merch if I like it! But finally I’m motivated to read these books that have been sat on my shelf for months!

Books I Wish I Read in 2017

Hey guys! Here is the third post in my 2017 wrap up and I’ll be talking about books I wish I read in 2017! I know that it’s not the end of 2017 yet but there’s no way I’ll be reading these books by the end of next week. I’m currently reading some other books and I’ll be finishing them off hopefully! By the way, I was really tired when I was writing this and it was the fourth post I’d written, so if I start rambling I’m sorry! Hope you enjoy!

Shadowblack1) Shadowblack by Sebastian De Castell

I really loved Spellslinger and was so excited for this book. I was even more excited when I realised it was coming out in the same freaking year as Spellslinger! They weren’t making us wait a year for the sequel! But even though I bought it months ago, still haven’t read it yet. Sigh. I’ll hopefully pick it up in January because I really love Kellen and need to see what he’s up to in the second book! The first book was amazing, amazing, amazing. Such a jaw dropping plot twist and cliffhanger so I need to see Kellen again to find out whats happened!
