Favourite Newly Discovered Authors!

Hey guys! Today I am going to be looking back at some of my favourite authors that I have discovered in 2020. Some of these are popular authors who I was aware of but had never read their books before, while others were completely new to me and I picked up their book based on the blurb or cover. So without further ado, let’s get into it!

Rick Riordan

I am kicking this off with Rick Riordan, probably the most popular author on this list. I bought his Percy Jackson books a while ago, but I took ages to read them because I thought I was too old now to enjoy them. I started reading the first book at the beginning of the year and I ended up finishing the entire series in January. I was completely swept up in the adventure and Percy’s journey throughout the series with his friends. I loved all the mythology and it was easy to see why so many people love these books. I will definitely be reading more of Riordan’s books!

My most read authors!

Hey guys! Today I’m going to be sharing with you some of my most read authors and I bet most of you will already know who the majority of them are. I’m going to start from the lowest and work my way up to the author with the most books that I’ve read. There’s a lot of sixes and sevens, according to my read shelf on Goodreads, so I’ve picked my favourite ones. If I include them all this post will be way too long!

Marie Lu (six books)

First up we have Marie Lu with six books and these include The Young Elites trilogy, Batman: Nightwalker and her Warcross duology. Lu has been hit-and-miss author for me unfortunately, but I do still really want to read her other published books, especially The Kingdom of Back. I enjoyed the concept of The Young Elites but I don’t think it was executed very well, whereas I loved Nightwalker and Warcross. I wished the latter one was a trilogy but it worked really well as a duology so I’m happy.

Book Tag: Books I Want to Read But Don’t Want to Read

Hey guys! Honestly I say this every time I do a book tag, but it really has been a few months since my last one. I spotted this particular tag over on The Comfy Reader and it seemed like a lot of fun to do! Unfortunately I do not know who originally created this tag but all credit goes to them.

The Court of Miracles

A Book You Feel You Need To Read Because Everyone Talks About It

One book that has been popping up again and again on Twitter and Instagram is The Court of Miracles by Kester Grant and this comes out in June. It’s marketed as Six of Crows meets Les Miserables and is about a thief going head to head with leaders of Paris’s criminal underground in the wake of a failed French Revolution. This doesn’t sound like a book I would like to be honest, but since there’s so much hype around it I’ll probably end up reading it.

All of my unread books (#2)

Hey guys! I went away this weekend and I didn’t have time to prepare a post for today, but I didn’t want to disappear and not post anything again like I normally do (One of my goals this year is to blog more and so far I think I’m doing well and I want to keep it up). I wanted something quick and easy to do, so I thought I’d share with you an updated list of all my unread books. I first did this in September 2018 and you can take a look at that here if you’re interested.

The first time I did this I had 98 unread books and this time I have 86, so in over a year I haven’t really got much further on with my TBR problem. However, there’s quite a few series on my first one that I’ve now read (Shatter MeDavid Raker, Percy Jackson) so I’m quite pleased with that. Below are my current unread books and this time I decided to group it by author because I thought that would be better.

Meeting Cassandra Clare and Holly Black!

Hey guys! Happy first of the month! I recently had one of the happiest moments in my life because I met one of my all-time favourite authors! As you can tell from the title, I met Cassandra Clare and Holly Black! Cassie and Holly recently went on tour in the UK and I managed to bag tickets to one of their stops! I got the ticket that included the books, an exclusive tote bag and a tour print (lots of goodies!!). There was also some posters, bookmarks, pins and a sample for Cassie’s next book.

Advance warning: this will be a really long post as I just blabber on about all my feelings and excitement when meeting Cassie! My heart was so full and looking at the pictures when I met her, I have a ridiculous smile plastered on my face and I’m practically making heart eyes at her. Seriously she is one of my favourite authors and I cannot get over finally being able to meet her.

Now I’ll actually show you what I got and pictures from the event! First up, here’s the double sided tote bag (it’s so pretty!):

Top 5 Wednesday: Hyped 2019 Releases You Don’t Care About

Hey guys! Today I am talking about hyped 2019 releases I don’t care about or have any interest in reading! These are just ones I’ve constantly seen popping up all over the place, be it people posting pictures of ARCs or even asking about it. Just from reading the synopsis, I have decided these are probably not ones that I’ll like but a lot of them have five star reviews already, so clearly they are popular! Just not something I think I’d enjoy. Here’s my picks:

The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi: I read the synopsis for this one and saw 1889 which put me off straight away. I’m not really one for historical settings and much prefer the present day. Also when I was reading the synopsis, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo came to mind as it sounds very similar. The main character has to get a band of experts to help them with a heist? Already read that and didn’t care. I didn’t really like Six of Crows or understand the hype surrounding it, so best to avoid this one.

Favourite Authors of 2018!

Hey guys! I hope you are all having an awesome month! Today I am bringing you a list of my favourite 2018 authors! I really loved these authors and I’m really excited to share them with you so hopefully you can discover them too! I hope you enjoy!

V.E. Schwab

V.E. Schwab is not a new author to me. I read A Darker Shade of Magic in 2017 and while I did enjoy it, I didn’t continue the series so I couldn’t really appreciate her awesomeness.  I took books two and three on holiday with me this year and finished them in less than a week. Such an amazing trilogy and I also fell completely in love with Kell! I’m currently halfway through Vicious and she is easily one of my favourite authors now! I honestly didn’t think she could top Shades of Magic but it’s super close without me even having finished Vicious! I love the story so much and I think it’s so cool what has happened so far! V.E. Schwab is honestly a fantastic author and I am in awe at these incredible worlds and characters she creates. How does she do it?! I would love to see inside her mind because I bet she has lots of cool ideas flying around in there! I can’t wait to buy her other books!

Authors I’d Give a Second Chance!

Hey guys! Today I am going to talk about authors who I’d like to give a second chance! I saw this on sarawithoutah‘s BookTube so long ago and I have always wanted to do it. I finally got around to it and I’m very excited to share my list with you! Enjoy!

Sasha Alsberg: So I am a big fan of Sasha but sadly her debut, Zenith, wasn’t for me. I was really disappointed with it as it felt very messy and haphazardly thrown together. Things weren’t explained very well and I was left scratching my head for the majority of it. However, she is a growing author and can improve her writing. I think she could be a really great author if she takes her time with her books and I’d love to still be able to support her by buying them. I think Zenith came out so messy because everything was massively rushed; however her other books don’t seem to be going down the same path which is good! I am interested in reading Project Red because that seems like one I haven’t read before. She seems to be taking her time with it and from the sneak peeks she has shown us, it looks really interesting.

All of my unread books! (Nearly 100!)

Hey guys! I am back off holiday now and I had such an amazing time! I’m sorry for not posting but I decided to take a break from my blog and spent the two weeks relaxing! 🙂

Now that I’m back, I decided to count all of my unread books and it is not pretty! I always feel better seeing how many unread books other people have and it makes me feel better because I’m always like at least I’m not that bad! I was wrong. I was living in denial because it’s very bad. I have 98 unread books! 98! Help?! Honestly I have no idea why I let it get so bad and now I feel very overwhelmed, yay! But at least every month I will get to see the number slowly going down and it will motivate me to stop buying other books!

I’m only going to try and buy books now that I really want such as Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare! I’ll try telling myself that all the others can wait until I have a nice number of books on my TBR! Below are my unread books. I hope you can read them OK, I took screenshots on Goodreads. It’s very inconvenient not being on YouTube sometimes.
