Unpopular Opinions Book Tag!

Hey guys! Today I decided to do the unpopular opinions book tag! No one tagged me to do it, I just thought this would be a really fun tag to do! I love book tags but rarely do them myself and I want to change that! Hopefully I will be doing a lot more after this!

I hope you enjoy this tag and please don’t be offended by my choices. If you loved these books, great! But sadly I didn’t and that’s just my honest opinion.

vampire-academy1) A popular book or series that you didn’t like

Vampire Academy… I just don’t understand why everyone seems to love these books? I’m not going to go into detail about why I don’t like this series because I do that a lot already, anyway. You’re all probably sick of hearing me complain about these books! I think maybe I read them at the wrong age because I read them when I was about 18 or 19, I think? Maybe I should have read them when I was 14 or 16, I might have liked them better.

Top 5 Wednesday: Characters You WOULDN’T Want to Trade Places With

This group was created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey) and is hosted by Sam (ThoughtsOnTomes). If you want to participate, check out the link on Goodreads here.

This is such an interesting topic for this week! I’m excited to do this but I feel kind of bad for the characters I’m choosing! If you haven’t read any of these books, please do not read my reasons for not trading places because there will be spoilers.

A Thousand Pieces of You1) Marguerite Caine (A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray)

Whilst I think it would be freaking awesome travelling to alternate dimensions, you are pretty much stealing another person’s body and controlling them which isn’t fun at all as Marguerite learns during Ten Thousand Skies Above You. Plus, after what happened to her dad and Theo, it is quite a dangerous game to play.

July Wrap Up!

I’m quite happy with the books I read this month, I really enjoyed them and I already have an idea of what I want to read in August. For once I’m planning what to read! I normally just pick up whatever I feel like because I never stick to TBR lists. Anyway, here is what I read this month:

A Thousand Pieces of You1) A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray

I really liked this book and thought it had a unique story. I thought that it was well thought out and it definitely had a lot of detail and it was presented really well. It switches between the past and the present throughout which I really liked because it doesn’t dump the story on you all at once but instead takes the time to explain everything to you. Unfortunately, one thing I didn’t like was the characters. I didn’t like Marguerite as much as I hoped and I definitely did not like the romance in this. I didn’t connect with Marguerite and Paul at all and I just couldn’t see how they were together. I really loved Theo and by the end of the book, he was my favourite character. You can read my full review here.

June Book Haul!

I started off the month really well and only bought one book. But then towards the end of the month I bought quite a lot more, oops. Here is a list of all the books I purchased in June:

A Thousand Pieces of You1) A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray

Okay, so, I have been seeing this book everywhere lately and the cover is stunning. It really caught my eye and the synopsis sounds amazing. It definitely sounds like a book I would enjoy.

It is about a girl named Marguerite Caine whose parents are scientists and they invent a device called Firebird that allows people to leap into alternate dimensions. But then Marguerite’s father is murdered by one of their top students, Paul Markov. Before they can arrest him, he uses the device to slip into another dimension. Believing himself to be in the clear, he doesn’t expect anyone to follow him. But Marguerite is determined to catch him and chases him through various dimensions. Each new dimension she enters, she comes across a different version of Paul that opens up questions about his guilt and also has her questioning her heart.
