WWW Wednesday – January 2021

Hey guys! I hope you are all having a great week and your reading for 2021 is off to a good start. I have only read three books so far and I’m hoping a little reading update will spur me on as I’ve been reading so slowly this month. Plus, I haven’t done a WWW Wednesday post in a while and it’s always nice to bring it back every now and again. So without further ado, here’s my reading update for January:

Currently reading: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

I have had this series sitting on my shelf for so long and since there’s a new book coming out (A Court of Silver Flames), I thought I should really attempt to read it again. I remember when I first read A Court of Thorns and Roses I absolutely adored it and that hasn’t changed in the slightest. Admittedly, I was hesitant going into it but honestly I had nothing to worry about. The plot is great, the characters are great and I’m just having a great time with it overall. I don’t think I need to explain what this book is about; it’s an immensely popular series and literally everyone loves it.

Book Series I Want to Finish in 2021

Hey guys! Today I am going to share with you the series that I’m currently in the middle of and want to finish in 2021. I’m basically showing you how terrible I am at keeping up with series. For some reason, I can’t binge-read an entire series because I get bored of the same characters and the story. I have no idea if anyone else can relate to this but it’s really unhelpful when it comes to keeping up with series because I tend to get halfway and then stop to pick up something else. That has resulted in me being in the middle of so many series and I’ve cherry-picked the ones I want to finish this year. Without further ado, here they are!

Grace & Fury by Tracy Banghart: I read this book in 2018 just before it came out and I absolutely loved it. I rated it five stars and I was so excited for the sequel but then when that came out in 2019 I didn’t pick it up! I have no idea why! I haven’t read any reviews for it so I have no idea if people thought it was good or bad. It’s on my shelf waiting to be read, but for some reason I keep avoiding picking it up. I definitely want to go back and reread the first book before picking up Queen of Ruin – I just need to be in the mood for it, I think? If you’ve read the sequel and loved it, please let me know!

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir: I love this series so much and have every intention of finishing it next month as the final book in the series was released in December. I’m definitely nervous though because I didn’t enjoy A Reaper at the Gates as much as I did the first two and I don’t want this amazing series to be ruined with the last book. I will be finishing it though!

Books I Want to Read in January 2021

Hey guys! I still can’t believe 2020 is finally over and that I’m sharing my first TBR post of 2021 with you today. Let’s hope we have a better year! I decided to change up the title a bit I got bored of using ‘[Month, year] TBR’. Hopefully this title is a bit more exciting? Anyway, for this month I’m going to be starting my resolutions by reading my newest books and continuing with some series! Here’s what I want to read:

Burnt Island by Kate Rhodes: I recently spoke about this in my Christmas book haul so I won’t go into detail again, but this is the third book in the DI Ben Kitto series and I’ve been really enjoying it. The fourth book comes out in paperback later this year so I need to catch up ready for its release!

The Jigsaw Man by Nadine Matheson: I was lucky enough to be sent an ARC of this in November and it comes out in February so I’ll definitely be reading it this month. It sounds so thrilling and I’m really excited to get into it. There’s a serial killer on the loose and his work matches that of the notorious Jigsaw Killer who is behind bars. The police are racing to catch him before more bodies are found, but so is the Jigsaw Killer. Will it take a killer to catch the killer? Ahh, it sounds so good! I have high hopes for it.

The Spring Cleaning Book Tag!

Hey guys! Today I am bringing you another book tag, yay! My lovely friend Kate tagged me to do this and I haven’t seen it before so I’m really excited to give it a go! Also it’s the perfect time to do it before summer starts, although we have already been having heatwaves so it feels like summer has already started!

The struggle of getting started: A book or series you struggle to begin because of its size

I really want to read this series because dragons (I honestly love them) but damn these books are so thick. They are actually the books on my TBR with the most pages according to Goodreads so that’s not scary at all! So many people have told me to read them but I just take one look at them and I’m like maybe one day but today is not that day.

Book Series I’ve Quit!

Hey guys! I always talk about series I bloody adore and have become attached to but I don’t really talk about ones I haven’t got on with! I thought it’d be interesting for you guys to see what series I have recently quit reading. I have nothing against these authors, I just didn’t like these particular series. If you guys like them, that’s great! Plenty of people do as these are popular series but they just weren’t for me! So without further ado, lets get into it!

1) Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

This is one of those rare hyped series where I’ve read it and just hated everything about it. I noticed a lot of spelling mistakes and errors in the first book and it completely put me off. I hate seeing books with errors. I don’t mind the odd one or two but this one had so many. I didn’t like the plot. I thought it was very boring and whenever anything exciting happened it was conveniently solved a couple paragraphs later. I didn’t like the characters at all and I just couldn’t connect with any of them. When the second book came out I read a few reviews and they all said if they didn’t like the first book then you won’t like this one. So instead of possibly wasting my money I decided to just quit this series. I have no regrets and I donated the first book to a charity shop because I didn’t see the point in keeping it.

Book Series I Need To Finish!

Hey guys! I’m doing a different post for Wednesday rather than my usual Top 5 Wednesday or WWW Wednesday post. I haven’t been interested in any of the recent Top 5 Wednesday posts and I have fallen a little behind on my reading so there’s no point doing a WWW Wednesday post this week. I still wanted to post something though so here we are! I am sharing my unfinished series with you all and I hope you enjoy! I am only doing completed series though because if I did uncompleted ones the list would be never ending!

1) The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

So far I have only read the first book in The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater. I started the second book and I was really enjoying it but for some reason I put it down and didn’t pick it back up again?? I find myself doing that quite a lot! I just need to find time to sit down and read it solidly for a good few hours. I have heard so many great things about this series so I will be finishing it!

Top 5 Wednesday: Characters You WOULDN’T Want to Trade Places With

This group was created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey) and is hosted by Sam (ThoughtsOnTomes). If you want to participate, check out the link on Goodreads here.

This is such an interesting topic for this week! I’m excited to do this but I feel kind of bad for the characters I’m choosing! If you haven’t read any of these books, please do not read my reasons for not trading places because there will be spoilers.

A Thousand Pieces of You1) Marguerite Caine (A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray)

Whilst I think it would be freaking awesome travelling to alternate dimensions, you are pretty much stealing another person’s body and controlling them which isn’t fun at all as Marguerite learns during Ten Thousand Skies Above You. Plus, after what happened to her dad and Theo, it is quite a dangerous game to play.

Top 5 Books of 2016 (So far!)

Since we are halfway through the year, I thought I would share with you some of my favourite books I have read so far. I have currently read twenty one books in 2016 and I want to try and read a ton more. Here are my top five favourite ones (in no particular order!):

LM_cover1) Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (The Dark Artifices 1#)

Cassandra Clare has absolutely smashed it again! I loved her previous Shadowhunter books known as The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. I was ecstatic when this book came out and couldn’t wait to start reading it. I have always been envious of her writing, she just has a way of luring the reader in and not letting you go until you’ve read the very last page. The plot was so beautiful and so intricately woven it’s insane. How does she do that? I love her books so much and I’m dying to get the next book in this series. The characters were perfect as well I fell in love with them all and I can’t wait to read about them all again.
