Illumicrate Book Only Unboxing: September 2021 ‘To The Bitter End’

Hey guys! Today I’m unboxing probably my most anticipated book this year from Illumicrate. I already guessed what the book was going to be from the teaser video, but when they confirmed it I was so excited to see what customisations they’d do. I am very happy with this edition and they definitely didn’t disappoint me.

Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff: Look at this absolutely stunning edition! The standard edition is black with a white crest and red foiling, but this one is white and gold! It honestly looks so incredible. I did not expect it to be so different from the standard copy and I love it.

What really blew me away though was the digitally printed edges! It’s just breathtaking what they’ve done with it. The bottom half is a castle with bats flying around and the top half is a forest with birds and then the top and bottom edges are sprayed completely black. I’d love to see more designs like this on books!

Underneath the dust jacket we have a beautiful gold foiling design of a crest for one of the houses in the book. There’s also a quote on the back which I wasn’t expecting! They really did go all out for this edition and I am here for it.

The book is also signed and they’ve made it part of the endpaper, which I really like. It’s a gorgeous design! We also have the monthly pin and I love it. It says “May the dark know your name and despair.” I’m super curious to find out the context behind that quote now and I love the sword. I’m not normally fussed about the pins but this one is gorgeous.

Finally, we have the author letter and it’s also a beautiful art print. I was surprised at how short the letter was but it made me smile and I genuinely can’t wait to dive into this story.

So that’s the unboxing! What’s your favourite edition of this book? There’s so many floating around now! I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
