Books I Want to Read in June 2021

Hey guys! Today I’ll be picking out the books I want to read in June and I’ve got a few ARCs that I need to read and then there’s some popular books that I want to check out. I read a lot last month so I’m hoping that I can read either the same or a similar amount this month. Here’s what I want to read:

The Disappearing Act by Catherine Steadman: I’m actually reading this now so I might have finished it by the time this post is published. This story follows Mia Eliot, a British actress who has travelled to LA for pilot season, hoping she can make it in Hollywood. At an audition, she meets Emily and agrees to do a favour for her but then Emily mysteriously disappears and Mia is the last person to see her. When a woman turns up claiming to be Emily, who looks nothing like Mia remembers, she ends up investigating Emily’s disappearance and why someone would pretend to be her. I absolutely loved the sound of this and I was really intrigued by the setting. I don’t think I’ve read a thriller about an actress before and I’m looking forward to seeing how Hollywood is portrayed. So far I am enjoying it and the mystery surrounding Emily’s disappearance is superb. I’m definitely going to end up enjoying this.

The Lies We Tell by Jane Corry: I was so excited to receive an early copy of this as I’ve heard so many great things about Jane’s previous novels and her latest one sounds so thrilling. This is about how far you’d go to protect your only child as Sarah and Tom’s son comes home one night saying he’s done something terrible, begging them not to call the police. I’m already intrigued by the sound of this and can’t wait to read it! It comes out towards the end of June so I’ll be posting a review as soon as I read it!

Good Neighbours by Sarah Langan: This one sounds like it’s going to be riveting! It’s set in a picturesque community that seems like a lovely place to live on the surface, but your neighbours can easily turn on you and that’s what happens to the Wilde family who have just moved in. I feel like there’s a lot more to this story though, so I can’t wait to get stuck in.

The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman: I’ve ben waiting for so long to see what all the fuss is about. This book has been getting some serious praise and there’s a sequel coming out later in the year. I’ve heard that it has an excellent mystery and a likeable cast of characters. It’s set in a retirement village which I wasn’t aware of and it’s not something I usually read about in crime fiction so I’m looking forward to it and I like the sound of them getting together to investigate unsolved murders only to end up having to solve a real one.

Winter’s Orbit by Everina Maxwell: I got this all the way back in January as part of my Illumicrate subscription and I can’t believe how long a go that was now! I definitely want to read it before I end up getting completely overwhelmed by all the Illumicrate books I haven’t read. I think this is a space opera, not my usual read but it sounds too good to pass up.

Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson: This was on my TBR last month and I just never got round to it. It’s the sequel to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, which I really enjoyed so I definitely want to pick up the sequel before I forget what happened in the first book.

So these are the books I want to read in June and I’m really excited about them all! There’s a nice mix there and they all sound super intriguing. I’m looking forward to reading them! What are you reading this month? I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
