Illumicrate Book Only Unboxing: February 2021 ‘The City is Ours’

Hey guys! Today I am bringing you an unboxing for Illumicrate February 2021. I’ve been really looking forward to this as I had no idea what the book was and couldn’t wait to unbox it. Sadly it was delayed slightly but it got here in the end! I had to dodge a few spoilers, which was annoying, but that’s how it is. Anyway, let’s get into the unboxing because I can’t wait to show you what the book is!

A Dark and Hollow Star by Ashley Shuttleworth: Apparently everyone was expecting this, but I’ve never heard of it and it was a wonderful surprise unboxing it. I absolutely adore the design! The cover is stunning and it really makes me want to dive right in. I also love the pink sprayed edges and think they complement the cover nicely. If I recall correctly, the book is about teenagers working together to stop a killer before the fae realm is exposed to the human world. It does sound similar to Cassandra Clare’s Shadowhunter books, so I’m really looking forward to reading it. I do wish it had some more exclusive perks, but it’s a pretty edition nonetheless.

The naked hardback is a lovely purple colour, which complements the cover and the sprayed edges nicely. Honestly, the colour theme for this book is perfect. It’s also signed by the author, which I love to see. I much prefer a proper signature rather than a bookplate.

We also got some surprise goodies as well as the monthly pin. The book came with an author letter and what looks to be a character postcard, which was a nice surprise! The pin is really cool and I’m interested to see how that ties into the book!

So that’s the book only unboxing for Illumicrate’s February 2021 box. Is this a book you’ll be reading? I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
