WWW Wednesday!

Hey guys! I haven’t been feeling great this week and I’ve been really busy at work so unfortunately I haven’t had a lot of time to write blog posts. Hopefully this quick reading update will suffice until I can actually sit down and write some more detailed posts! Here’s what I’ve been reading this month:

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words.

To take part, all you have to do is answer the following questions:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently reading: I’m finally reading The Empress by S.J. Kincaid and so far I’m liking it but it’s a bit slow so I’m hoping it picks up later. I definitely prefer the first book up to now but I’m honestly not that far in yet so that could change.

I keep starting She by HC Warner and then just randomly putting it down! I have no idea why because it’s good, maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for it? I’m determined to finish it this time though!

Recently finished: I spent the entire weekend reading Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare and it was so worth it. I have fallen in love with a whole new generation of shadowhunters whilst also being able to revisit my favourites (Tessa, Will and Jem). It wasn’t as action packed as I was hoping and was a bit slow but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Cassie really does have a way with words and I was completely engrossed in the story. I can’t wait to see what happens next with these characters!

I also read The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo and unfortunately I didn’t like it. The artwork was amazing but the stories were very lacklustre. I didn’t care for the characters, the writing was too fanciful for me and felt like it was trying too hard to impress me rather than getting me to enjoy it. The only story I liked was the last one about mermaids because there was more character development and I felt like the story actually had a purpose. That was still a push though because it took a while for me to start enjoying it.

What I’ll read next: Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater has been out for a while now and I still haven’t read it! I’ve had lots of great things about it and I’ve said many items Ronan was the most interesting character in The Raven Cycle. I’m excited for him to have his own series and hopefully I will love it just as much!

I also want to finally read A Map of Days by Ransom Riggs because I’ve had this for so long now and it’s got to the point where I just have to read it. I’m a little hesitant because I didn’t enjoy the last book because everyone got split up but hopefully all the characters are together again in this one.

So this is what my reading is looking like for the next couple weeks. What are you guys reading? Feel free to leave a comment down below. I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
