January 2020 Wrap Up!

Hey guys! January, which always seems to be a struggle to get through, is finally over so that means I’m posting my wrap up. Last January I only managed two books which was super disappointing; however, I am very pleased to say that this year I managed to read seven books!

Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare: I finally read this giant book and it was actually everything I was hoping for. Admittedly, some stories were confusing as they had a lot of characters and I was struggling to remember who was who and who was related to the characters I already knew. I don’t know how Cassie manages to keep up with this world! My favourite stories were the ones with Jem and Tessa and the brief moments they manage to have together. Then the stories at the end when they’re finally together, that was super emotional. I loved this and I can’t wait for Chain of Gold now!

The Guest House by Abbie Frost: There seems to be a spike in crime books about characters going on wellness retreats which end up going horribly wrong and I’m totally here for it. I loved this one especially because it’s about a group of strangers staying together at a house and how they end up completely isolated and trapped indoors with a killer when a storm hits. The house seems to have endless rooms and creaky floorboards which gave me the creeps. It was such an intricate plot and I would never have guessed that ending. I’d love to read more of Abbie’s books!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan: What started with me hesitantly picking up the first book ended with me reading an entire series in one month. I would never in a million years have guessed how much I’d love this series and these characters. I loved the mythology and each new monster that cropped up throughout the series. The world-building was seriously impressive and I loved the sassy teens. I thought I was too old to enjoy this but I was definitely proved wrong and I’m so happy. I was so sad when I finished the last book and will definitely recommend this series to my friends now. Loved it!

So that is what I read in January! Even though I didn’t read everything I’d originally picked out for my January TBR, I’m happy that I’ve at least managed to tick another series of my ever-growing list. What did you guys read this month? Feel free to leave a comment below. I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
