Hey guys! You know how said I wanted to tackle my TBR this year? Well I’m not really helping myself achieve that goal with all the books I got in the first month of 2020. On the plus side, they look like good books and I don’t regret getting them. Also half of them were kindly sent to me for review. Here’s what I got this month:
The Sight of You by Holly Miller: I won this one in a giveaway and it doesn’t come out until June 2020 so I was thriller about that! I don’t normally go for romance but this one had a nice twist to it which sounded really intriguing. There’s two main characters: Joel and Callie. Joel has visions of the future and he believes the only way to prevent bad things from happening is to never let anyone close to him again. Callie has been lost since her best friend died and doesn’t know how to be the person she used to be. When they meet, it feels life-changing until Joel has a vision of how it’s going to end. It sounds really good and I hope it lives up to my expectations!
Are You Watching? by Vincent Ralph: This one comes out in February and I’ll be reading this soon because it sounds incredibly exciting. Ten years ago, Jess’s mother was murdered by the Magpie Man. Now Jess is the star of a YouTube reality series and she’s using it to catch the killer once and for all. The whole world is watching her every move, including the Magpie Man. How amazing does this one sound? Imagine just using your fame/platform as a way to find your mum’s killer? It honestly sounds so good and I really hope it doesn’t disappoint.
The Manifestations of Sherlock Holmes by James Lovegrove: Any Sherlock Holmes stories Titan Books publishes, I’m here for them. So big thanks to them for sending me this collection of short stories! I loved the last one James published, so I can’t wait to dive into his latest collection.
All the Best Lies by Joanna Schaffhausen: I couldn’t resist putting in a request for this one because it sounds so dark and thrilling. FBI agent Reed Markham is haunted by one painful unsolved mystery: who murdered his mother? The Las Vegas Police Department never solved the case and a shattering family secret changes everything Reed knows about his origins, his murdered mother, and his powerful adoptive father, state senator Angus Markham. Now Reed has to wonder if his mother’s killer is uncomfortably close to home and has been hiding in plain sight for forty years. How good does this sound? I feel like the synopsis gives so much away but it’s got me hooked. This comes out in February and I’ll be reading it soon for sure!
Renegades by Marissa Meyer: I have been itching to buy this book for months and I finally caved over the weekend. I love superheroes and a good vengeance story so this one sounds right up my alley. Everyone has been raving about this series so I’ve finally jumped on the bandwagon! Also I love that cover.
The Crucifix Killer by Chris Carter: I picked this up for £2.50 in a little market place! I read The Caller and loved it so much that I decided I want to read the entire series, so I was pretty chuffed when I found the first one for such a bargain. You don’t need to read this series and can read each book as a standalone but I loved the writing and the characters so much. Chris Carter has got me hooked from just one book!
So that’s my first haul of 2020! What books did you buy this month? Feel free to leave a comment below. I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
