Hey guys! One of my 2020 reading resolutions was to finish series I’m in the middle of and so today I thought I would pick out my top five series that I’m determined to finish this year. So without further ado, lets get into it!
The Nevernight Chronicle by Jay Kristoff
I feel like I don’t have any excuse for not finishing this series. Despite having a rocky start with Nevernight, I ended up loving it and thought it was one of the darkest and most interesting stories I’ve come across. I really love how this series is completely driven by the need for revenge and that the main character, Mia Corvere, is in no way, shape or form a good character. I’m terrified of how it will end though as I’ve seen many shocked reactions but at the same time I’m kind of looking forward to it?
Spellslinger by Sebastien de Castell
I read the first three books in this series – Spellslinger, Shadowblack and Queenslayer – not too long ago and they all made it onto my favourite books of the year lists. The first one had one of the most shocking twists I’ve come across and made me immediately want to pick up the second book. I’m not sure why I never picked up the fourth book but since this has been one of my favourite fantasy series and instead follows an ordinary boy living in a world full of magic and using schemes and tricks to stay alive, it definitely stood out from the sea of other fantasy books and I’d really love to wrap this series up in 2020.
Fawkes and Baxter by Daniel Cole
This is one of my favourite crime thrillers; I loved the first two books so much! Endgame hasn’t been out that long so I don’t feel as and for not getting round to it yet but considering how amazing and shocking the second book was, I’m kind of surprised I didn’t immediately pick it up!
Me Before You by JoJo Moyes
I haven’t really talked about this series in a while because I was pretty happy with having Me Before You as a standalone and pretending the other two books didn’t exist, but I feel that I should read them. It’ll be nice to see what has happened with Louisa since the events of the first book. I’ll just drastically lower my expectations as I’ve not heard great things about these two books.
The Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’ve no doubt seen me say countless times that I need to read Crooked Kingdom, only for me to then fail to do this all throughout 2019. Everyone is probably sick of these books appearing on my TBR now so maybe I’ll quietly tackle it and then finally, proudly display it on one of my monthly wrap ups. We’ll see.
So these are my top five series that I want to finish I’m 2020. Are there any series you’d like to wrap up this year? Feel free to leave a comment down below. I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
