Hey guys! Since we are rapidly approaching the end of the year, I thought I’d share with you some of the books I’m looking to cross off my TBR before 2020. I’ve heard great things about these books and I have no idea why I haven’t read some of them yet! Here’s what I’d like to read before the end of the year:
Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare: I remember being really excited for this book before it even came out because it follows one of my absolute favourite characters: Jem Carstairs. I loved him in The Infernal Devices and I was so happy when reappeared in other series like The Dark Artifices. The only thing I’m worried about though is that novellas are usually a hit or miss for me. Sometimes I love them but the majority of the time I’m bored because I don’t think a lot is happening. Fingers crossed that I end up loving this!
Truthwitch by Susan Dennard: Everyone has been saying how great Truthwitch is and I still haven’t read it! I’d love to read some more fantasy books and this series sounds perfect. I don’t think I’ve read a book about witches before (and if I have it clearly wasn’t very memorable) and I love the idea of different ones like truthwitch, bloodwitch, etc. so I’m feeling very hopeful about this series! I want to at least read the first one before 2020.
Crooked Kingdom & King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo: I’ve jumped on the Leigh Bardugo bandwagon a little late this year but I’m determined to read all of her books before the end of the year. Even before I read her Shadow and Bone trilogy I really wanted to read King of Scars – the title and the character just piqued my curiosity! Also I’ve heard that Crooked Kingdom is one of her best books so I have high hopes for this.
Soulbinder by Sebastien De Castell: I was really loving this series and rated the first three books five stars so I have no idea why I didn’t read Soulbinder! The last book in the series came out like two weeks ago so I have no excuse for not reading this series now. I may even reread the first three and then marathon the last three! I haven’t decided yet but either way I definitely want to read Soulbinder before 2020.
Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo: I haven’t seen anyone that I follow on social media rate this lower than five stars so I’m very intrigued by this. However, I’ve heard that there should be trigger warnings as it’s incredibly violent/graphic which does have me worried. I know things like this are supposed to make you feel uncomfortable but I am not good with stuff like that so this really could go either way for me! I would really like to read it or at least attempt to read it though (I’m worried I will DNF it) before the end of the year.
So there’s are what I’d consider my top books to read before the end of 2019! Have you read any of these? What did you think? What books are you looking to read before the end of the year? I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
