Hey guys! Today I am bringing you the Nevermind Book Tag which was recently created by readinginfinitely. I love finding new tags to do and this one seemed like a lot of fun! It’s goes through books or series you changed your mind about and I don’t think I’ve done anything like this on my blog before so I’m excited to share my choices with all of you! So let’s get into it!
A book you rated high but have now changed your mind and/or a book you’ve rated low and changed your mind
For a book you rated high but have now change your mind about I’m going to go with Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. When I first read Shatter Me in 2016 (Was that really 3 years ago?) I rated it 5 stars just because it was so different and I loved Tahereh’s writing style. However, I reread it this year and only gave it 3 stars. I didn’t think there was much of a plot; it was all very repetitious and I couldn’t justify giving it higher than that. Also I read in a couple reviews that there was massive character development by the end of the book but I didn’t think there was? I was disappointed to give it such a low rating but I didn’t enjoy it all that much.
A book you bought because of the cover but might not read
I thought this cover looked really cool and I was excited to read a book about a gladiator but it has been sat on my shelf for a few years now. I’ve not had any interest in reading it whatsoever and I honestly don’t know if I ever will but I don’t want to unhaul it just yet… I might hold onto it for a little longer in case one day I’m randomly in the mood to read it!
A book you constantly put on your TBR but cant seem to get to
Finale by Stephanie Garber! This has appeared on 3 TBRs now I think and I still haven’t read it! However, this weekend is a bank holiday in the UK so I plan on reading it then! Watch this space! I WILL read it!
A hyped book you aren’t sure you’re interested in
Part of me wants to read this because Jay Kristoff, need I say more? But another part of me is like you don’t like science fiction. You shouldn’t read this. That is probably true, yes, but that cover is gorgeous and I kind of want to own it. Sigh. Decisions, decisions.
A book you dnf’d
The only book I can remember DNF’ing this year is The Colour of Bee Larkham’s Murder by Sarah J. Harris but that is because I was in a massive slump and wasn’t feeling it at all. However, I am currently reading it now and I am really loving it so I’ve beat that DNF!
A book you were loving until the ending made you think twice and/or a book you weren’t sure you liked until it’s epic ending!
For a book you weren’t sure you liked until it’s epic ending I have chosen Our Dark Duet by V.E. Schwab. I’m not sure if you saw my review but I didn’t like This Savage Song and I wasn’t that into Our Dark Duet either but it’s like as soon as the ending was closing in everything was ramped up massively. There was so much more at stake and August and Kate had to sacrifice so much to save others. Schwab always manages to leave me stunned by some part of her book and the ending of Our Dark Duet definitely left its mark. I had to give the book 4 stars just for that ending. Amazing.
A series you were loving and then decided to not continue and/or a series you weren’t sure about but now want to continue.
For a series you weren’t sure about but now want to continue I’m going with Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi. I actually gave this book 1 star. It might be a pretty harsh rating but I don’t think it should be higher than that because this book felt so completely and utterly wrong I can’t believe it was even written by the same author. It felt like we were right back at the start; Juliette was insecure about everything despite having come so far and Warner who was so strong was so weak. I thought about not continuing but since there’s only 2 books left in the series and I’ve made it this far I might as well. I do want to see Juliette and Warner together.
A genre you used to like but now don’t read and/or a genre you used to not read but now love.
One genre I used to not read but now love and probably read the most is crime fiction. I could never get into this genre when I was younger but now I find it so interesting. I love a good whodunnit and a lot of the time I can never guess what is going to happen. It’s definitely my favourite genre at the moment.
A character you changed your mind about (either good or bad)
This is a really random one but when Emma Carstairs was first introduced in City of Heavenly Fire I didn’t like her at all. Probably because I was so invested in Clary, Jace and the others story to take too much notice of a new set of characters. However, after reading Lady Midnight, I ended up adoring her. Mostly I loved how fierce and protective she was of the Blackthorn’s. I think I liked her more than Clary actually!
So that’s the end of the Nevermind Book Tag! I have a few people I’d like to tag:
…And anyone else who would like to do it! I hope you enjoyed it and thank you so much for reading!
