Hey guys! Recently I have been browsing old top ten topics and I stumbled across this one. It seemed like a really great topic to write about! I am considering participating in these posts on Tuesday’s now instead of Top 5 Wednesday as I just think there’s better topics. Top 5 Wednesday recently has not been very good for me. Though the only thing that concerns me is that I won’t be able to pick 10 books for each topic! If you take part in this weekly meme, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I have a 100 unread books to choose from for this, so here’s the first 10 that popped up in my head:
Legendary by Stephanie Garber: I haven’t even read Caraval yet but I had to rush to buy this because I wanted it to match the first book! All first editions had an image under the dust jacket like the first one. These books are like gold dust to come across now and they are so expensive when you do finally find out! I saw someone selling a copy of Caraval for £150 and my jaw hit the floor. So of course I had to buy this for a reasonable price and make sure it matched my copy of Caraval, in case I actually like the book!
Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi: Have I read the Shatter Me series yet? No. Did I rush out and buy this as soon as it came out? Yes! Total cover buy and I can’t wait to catch up on this series!
Artemis by Andy Weir: I really loved The Martian so when I saw a similar book was being published, I HAD to buy it. But I still haven’t read it even though it came out nearly a year a go, oops! To be air, I’ve heard mixed things about it so it kind of put me off reading it!
Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth: I did really enjoy Veronica’s Divergent series so when I saw she was writing a duology, I had to buy it! But then all the reviews came in so sadly this is still sat on my bookshelf unread over a year later.
Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff: I really loved Nevernight, I thought it was a pretty amazing book so I immediately rushed out and picked up a copy of Godsgrave. Unfortunately, due to the third book being delayed until next year, I just didn’t see the point of reading the second one yet. So I think I’ll read it closer to the third books publication date! Maybe I will read both books so I can refresh my memory!
Lifel1k3 by Jay Kristoff: Jay Kristoff strikes again! He is a relatively new author for me, I’ve only actually read Nevernight but I do want to read his other books. When I saw this one in Waterstones, I picked up a copy because it sounded vague but interesting. It gives you an idea of what the plot is about but doesn’t really go into detail, so I am intrigued. But I still haven’t found time to read it yet, boo!
A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir: I actually have a very good reason for not having read this yet! I’m attempting to buddy read it with my friend but unfortunately as we both have full time jobs, it’s hard to find time! We will get there eventually but it might not be for a couple months!
Rebel Spring by Morgan Rhodes: I really enjoyed Falling Kindgoms so I bought the second book (the whole series actually) but for some reason I still haven’t read it yet! To be honest, it’s probably worth re-reading the first book and refreshing my memory because I read the first one so long a go now! Now that this series has come to an end, it’s perfect to marathon!
Warcross by Marie Lu: This was one of my most anticipated reads but then when it came out, I just never read it? I have no idea why! I read the flipping Young Elites trilogy instead and that was disappointing! I really need to get my butt into gear because the second one recently came out and I want to buy the hardback to match the first book!
You Were Gone by Tim Weaver: Honestly, I haven’t even read all the books in this series yet but when I saw this hardback I was like give to me! I am slowly getting through this series though so I’m not too mad at myself for buying it before I was caught up! I just finished the third book and I have five more to go, sheesh! But I’m in the mood to read them now so hopefully I should get to this one soon! This one sounds so messed up so it’s encouraged me to read the rest as fast as I can!
So these are ten books that I had an incredible urge to buy and I couldn’t ignore it, but fast forward some years or months and they are still sitting on my shelf unread for various reasons. I would like to apologise to these poor books that are probably really great! What are some books you found yourself completely consumed by and had a crazy desire to own? Feel free to leave a comment below! I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
