Top 5 Wednesday: Books You’ve Removed From Your TBR

Hello everyone! Thought I’d take part in this weeks Top 5 Wednesday because I liked the idea of discussing books you’ve removed from your TBR for various reasons. I mostly removed mine due to poor reviews and lack of interest! Hope you enjoy!

This group was created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey) and is hosted by Sam (ThoughtsOnTomes). If you want to participate, check out the link on Goodreads here.

Frost and Starlight1) A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas

I thought about buying this book mainly for the fan art because I haven’t even read A Court of Mist and Fury yet but then I read some reviews and they were… not great. Obviously I haven’t read it so I can’t agree or dispute this but from what I have heard, this book is very much money-grabbing and it’s not really needed. I’ve heard some terrible things about it and I’m just not going to waste my money on something I know I won’t enjoy. So for that reason, I am removing this from my TBR. I’d rather spend my £8 on a book I know I will enjoy. You can’t

Otherworld2) Otherworld by Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller

The cover for this book really caught my eye and the synopsis sounded pretty decent so I added it to my TBR and made a note to pick it up next time I was in Waterstones. Unfortunately, fast forward to when I was going to buy it, I did some digging and read some reviews. Similar to Frost and Starlight, the reviews were pretty poor. So I put it back on the shelf and was like no, thank you. It spent a very brief time on my TBR but it was not meant to be. I’m so glad I read the reviews for it otherwise I’d be dreading reading it.

Moriarty3) Moriarty by Anthony Horowitz

I started reading this years ago but I didn’t get very far in because it was so boring. Reading this book felt like a chore, it felt like a punishment. I don’t want to sound so negative about a book but I really could not read this. I wanted to read a book about Sherlock or Watson and instead I’m given two completely different characters that I care nothing about? It wasn’t what I was expecting and I didn’t like it. I doubt I’ll ever finish this book and I have no interest in going back to it. So disappointing since I really enjoyed The House of Silk.

All the Crooked Saints4) All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater

Maggie is very much a hit and miss author for me. Some books I like and others I don’t. I thought about reading this but when the reviews started filtering through, I read that it was problematic and that there was some racism. So then I was just completely against this book because I could picture myself just struggling through it and not enjoying it at all. I just don’t have any interest in reading this and I probably never will so this just flew off my TBR.

The Copper Gauntlet5) Magisterium: The Copper Gauntlet by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

A Cassandra Clare book on here?! Say it ain’t so?! Sorryyy! I don’t think middle grade is for me but at least I can say I tried it! I read The Iron Trial and thought it was so boring but then the ending was really good so I bought the second one. But then I just never read it and I lost interest because I remembered how boring the first one was. I don’t even have this book anymore, I got rid because I knew there was no way I was going to read it. I was sad because I worship Cassie but why waste time reading something I’m not going to enjoy?

So there we have it. I’ve probably removed more from my TBR but I really can’t remember and these ones just sprung to mind when I was writing this post. What books have you removed from your TBR? Please feel free to leave a comment below or a link to your post! I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!

ACOFAS wasn’t spectacular. As someone who really enjoyed the other 3 books, this one felt like a lazy attempt to keep the series going. It wasn’t the worst book ever (I think I rated out 3 out of 5), but it wasn’t worth the hype. The cover art sure is awesome though.
