Top 5 Wednesday: Forgettable Books

Hey guys! So like an idiot I read the list of topics for January in a rush and accidentally ended up posting the topic for the 17th on the 10th! I thought ‘Forgettable Books’ was this week but it was actually ‘Books You Didn’t Get to In 2017’! Sorry for the mix up and enjoy my picks for ‘Forgettable Books’ a week early, I guess!

**

I was actually really excited to get to this topic because it seems like such an interesting one. I’m really excited to see what books people find forgettable and if we share any! I’m just revisiting old favourites and realising they are no longer my favourites because I can’t remember nothing about them. I don’t have a clue what happened with regards to plot and characters, even though they are 300-400 pages. So they have made my list for forgettable books! Enjoy!

This group was created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey) and is hosted by Sam (ThoughtsOnTomes). If you want to participate, check out the link on Goodreads here.

insurgent1) Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Quite an old book now but I’m being completely honest with you all when I say I have absolutely no idea what happened in this book or what it was about. I have read this book twice and I just have no clue what happened. I can’t remember anything about it. I really hope no one asks me what this book is about because I wouldn’t have a clue what to tell them. Even the first book, I have a vague idea of what happens but I can’t remember it fully. So this series is just very forgetful for me. I mean I loved the books when I read them but obviously the writing isn’t that memorable if I can’t remember anything about the plot or the characters.

fallen2) Fallen by Lauren Kate

This is another series I really loved at the time I was reading it but now thinking about it I can’t remember anything about this series. I think the main character Lucinda dies every time she kisses a fallen angel and then she comes back to life like years later? Why this is, I have no clue. I just can’t remember. This series has four books and I don’t remember anything about them. I read them in 2012 and I remember getting my friend to read them because I loved them so much. But now? Eh, nope.

Looking for Alaska3) Looking for Alaska by John Green

I really can’t understand the hype surrounding John Green’s books because I have read three of them and don’t remember anything about them apart from that they were awful. The characters were dreadful and I’m so glad I don’t remember much about this story. Even reading the synopsis doesn’t jog my memory at all. I think I hated this book so much I erased it from my mind!

Shiver4) Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

I got so excited when I found out this book was about wolves but then imagine my disappointment when I finished this book and thought to myself “What actually happened in this book?” The answer? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. A girl falls in love with a wolf/boy and that’s about it? She originally falls in love with the wolf and when she find out said wolf is actually a boy she starts dating him. The end. No idea how Maggie managed to stretch this into three books when one would have fine. I really can’t remember what happens in book two and three either so overall this is a very forgettable series.

Ice like fire5) Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch

All I remember about this book was feeling like I was slowly dying whenever I was reading it because it was that bad. I finished it and I was like where was the plot??? What happened to the characters? How is this book a sequel to Snow Like Ashes? Snow Like Ashes was amazing, easily five stars but this book is just a big pile of nope. This is a book that is easy to forget and one I won’t bother reading again.

So here is my top five picks for forgettable books! I tried to do recent choices but I’ve really loved all of the books I’ve been reading lately and don’t consider any of them to be forgettable so I’ve had to pick quite old books, sorry! What are some of your forgettable books? If you have taken part in this topic also then please share your post and leave a comment below! I would love to see what your choices are! I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!

I just realised I did the wrong Top 5 Wednesday topic, oops 😂😂😂😂😂 forgettable books is next week, crap! 😂😂 I’m an idiot 🤷‍♀️ But yeh I remember I was so relieved and happy when I could say I finished this series and then she goes and brings a fourth book out, ugh! 😂 I’m not reading Sinner just because I hated Cole and Isobel and since that is about them, there is no point xD I hated these books so obviously I’m not going to recommend them but if you wanna read them out of curiosity do it 😂

Oooh, just switch them up for once! We all have our weirdo moments once in a while, haha. I had it for TTT once but was lucky to see it in time – I had a couple of TTT’s prepped but scheduled them wrong so I was able to sort it out before anything was posted. I was so lucky! :’D
Oooh boy. I have owned the first three for aaaages and bought the fourth so I wouldn’t have an excuse to have yet another series on my “to finish” list.. Now to binge them one day and.. if I don’t like them? Unhauling! 😀

      • Beth says:

Hahaha lucky!! I scheduled mine then forgot about it 😂 True least you will know if you like them or not instead of forever wondering 😀

I’ve kept it and Hush, Hush because I’ve wanted to give them a chance, they’ve been on my TBR pile. I’ve been thinking about giving them away, I don’t want to make an impulse decision and then later on decide to get rid of them.

      • Beth says:

Yeh that always sucks! I got rid a series I wasn’t interested in and now wish I’d have kept hold of them! I really liked Hush, Hush that was one of my favourite series! I read it when I was 16 though so idk if I’d still like it the same now or not 🤷‍♀️

      • Caila says:

I think I’ve had both of the books about three years, I bought them at the same time. I think ultimately I will end up getting ride of them, my TBR is slightly large and I don’t think I will ever get around to reading them. If I ever feel like I want to read them, I can just borrow them from the library.

      • Beth says:

That’s a good idea! 🙂 No point keeping books you can’t see yourself reading any time soon! Not when there are tons of books being published this year 😀
