Hey guys! This is the second wrap up post for 2017! I’ll be looking at my least favourite books and I’m sure a lot of you can guess what books will be on this list… Sorry if you don’t agree with me. If you loved these book, great! I wish I could have but sadly I really didn’t like these books!
1) The Chemist by Stephenie Meyer
I bet you all aren’t surprised to see this book on my list and in the number one spot too! That’s right, this was my least favourite book of 2017! Sadly my review has 200+ views and I’m sure it isn’t the most popular review. I bet a lot of people hate me for writing such a negative review but I’ll survive. Believe it or not I actually really wanted to like this book as I am a huge fan of Twilight and The Host. Plus with this being a thriller about a spy I was expecting it to be awesome. It was not very exciting and if you want to know why read my review because I can’t be bothered having another rant about how much I hate this book.
2) Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody
Possibly the biggest disappointment of 2017. I was so happy when I got this book because that cover is beautiful! I was judging this book by the cover and thinking this book was going to be amazing but… it was definitely not amazing. It was terrible. It was really boring and very complicated. I struggled to follow the plot and the main character acted like a spoiled brat so I hated her. She keeps saying she isn’t a child but then she sulked when she didn’t get her own way and isn’t that acting like a child? I wanted to slap her and shake her. Ugh, I really didn’t like her. By the end of the book I just wanted it to be over and didn’t care if the main character lived or died. I just didn’t care.
3) Frost Like Night by Sara Raasch
I’m not surprised I hated this book because I hated the second one as well. This series was such a disappointment and I have no idea what happened. I think everyone can agree the first book was absolutely amazing and definitely deserved a five star rating. Second book? Awful. Third book? Awful. Series overall? Awful. Pretty much nothing happens in this book and the romance between Meira and Mather completely takes over the plot. Honestly the second and third book contribute nothing to the story and it would have been better with the first book being a standalone. That’s how much I hated the second and third books.
4) Emma in the Night by Wendy Walker
You already know why I didn’t like this book so I won’t explain it again but just know I didn’t like the characters or the plot. Thought it was boring and lacked emotion. Though to be fair, I don’t have a clue about narcissism which is what this book is about. So maybe if I do my research on that and then come back to this book with a different take on it, maybe I will like it more? Maybe.
5) The Hatching by Ezekiel Boone
I thought this book wasn’t going to be scary but it wasn’t. It was actually really boring. I don’t know how someone can make a book about spiders taking over the world boring but there you go. The characters were very dull and I didn’t really care what happened to them. They could have been eaten by spiders and I wouldn’t care. This book had the potential to be super scary and terrifying but it fell flat. It was all very scientific and too focused on that aspect rather than spiders eating people. Honestly I wanted to be scared and crying under my covers forever afraid of spiders but it didn’t happen.
I think I do come across as a little harsh in this post but these books just annoy me so much! At least I have read them now so I never have to touch them again! I’m actually quite surprised only five books are on this list. That isn’t too bad! So if I read 50 books this year (currently on 47/50) I’ll have only hated five of them. That’s pretty good! What books were you disappointed by in 2017? Feel free to leave a comment below! I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
I was also disappointed with Emma in the Night and The Chemist! I don’t know the other titles listed.
Such a shame about The Chemist, really wanted to like it 😔 That’s good and obviously I’m not going to recommend them to you, haha!
