WWW Wednesday!

Hey guys! I’ve been so busy this week with work that I haven’t really had as much time to dedicate to my blog as I’d have liked. With that being said, I hope you don’t mind me doing a WWW Wednesday post today just because it’s quick and easy to do! I also have an update post coming for you on Friday because there might be a slight change to my blogging schedule next month. I’ll explain why in that post but for now lets get into today’s post!

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words.

To take part, all you have to do is answer the following questions:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently reading:

The Cost of Living by Rachel Ward: This was kindly sent to me by the publisher for review and I’m also taking part in a blog tour for it! I’m in a mad dash to finish it this week because the blog tour takes place when I’m on holiday. I want to have my review written up and scheduled to post so even if I only have a little free time I’m shoving my nose in this book! It’s really good so far but it’s very slow and not a lot is happening. I like the characters and I like that they work in a supermarket. It’s so normal and really relatable, especially if you work in retail.

Welcome to the Slipstream by Natalka Burian: Admittedly, I’m not very far in this book yet but what I have read is quite good. I’m liking it so far and hoping to give it my full attention when I finish The Cost of Living! This was also sent to me for review and it focuses on mental illness which was what drew me to it. I have only read a few books about this but I loved them both so hopefully I love this one too!

Book Series I’ve Quit!

Hey guys! I always talk about series I bloody adore and have become attached to but I don’t really talk about ones I haven’t got on with! I thought it’d be interesting for you guys to see what series I have recently quit reading. I have nothing against these authors, I just didn’t like these particular series. If you guys like them, that’s great! Plenty of people do as these are popular series but they just weren’t for me! So without further ado, lets get into it!

1) Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

This is one of those rare hyped series where I’ve read it and just hated everything about it. I noticed a lot of spelling mistakes and errors in the first book and it completely put me off. I hate seeing books with errors. I don’t mind the odd one or two but this one had so many. I didn’t like the plot. I thought it was very boring and whenever anything exciting happened it was conveniently solved a couple paragraphs later. I didn’t like the characters at all and I just couldn’t connect with any of them. When the second book came out I read a few reviews and they all said if they didn’t like the first book then you won’t like this one. So instead of possibly wasting my money I decided to just quit this series. I have no regrets and I donated the first book to a charity shop because I didn’t see the point in keeping it.

September TBR!

Hey guys! This month is going to be absolutely fantastic for me! I’m going on holiday for two weeks during the middle of the month so I have been planning what books to take with me. I’m taking a couple physical copies and the rest will be on my Kindle because it will just be easier to carry them around since we will be travelling a lot. The physical copies I am taking I have been waiting months for them to come out. They are two of my most anticipated releases so of course I have to take them on holiday! So without further ado, lets get into it!

Wonder Woman1) Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo

I can’t believe this book is finally here! Like many others I pre-ordered it months ago and have been eagerly awaiting its release! I ordered the paperback copy and the signed limited edition hardback! The hardback is a very simple design but it’s absolutely beautiful! I really hope they do the limited editions for the rest of the DC Icons books because that would be amazing! I haven’t read any of Leigh’s books but I do own her Six of Crows duology. I’m so excited to finally see what her writing is like and find out why she is such a popular author.
