Hey guys! I always talk about series I bloody adore and have become attached to but I don’t really talk about ones I haven’t got on with! I thought it’d be interesting for you guys to see what series I have recently quit reading. I have nothing against these authors, I just didn’t like these particular series. If you guys like them, that’s great! Plenty of people do as these are popular series but they just weren’t for me! So without further ado, lets get into it!
1) Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
This is one of those rare hyped series where I’ve read it and just hated everything about it. I noticed a lot of spelling mistakes and errors in the first book and it completely put me off. I hate seeing books with errors. I don’t mind the odd one or two but this one had so many. I didn’t like the plot. I thought it was very boring and whenever anything exciting happened it was conveniently solved a couple paragraphs later. I didn’t like the characters at all and I just couldn’t connect with any of them. When the second book came out I read a few reviews and they all said if they didn’t like the first book then you won’t like this one. So instead of possibly wasting my money I decided to just quit this series. I have no regrets and I donated the first book to a charity shop because I didn’t see the point in keeping it.
2) Magisterium by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black
I quit this series surprisingly fast. I read the first one but didn’t even finish the second one. I didn’t get very far and just had no interest in these books. I first wanted to read them because I love Cassie’s writing but these books were just so bad. Literally nothing happened throughout the first one and it was just the boring plot line. Main character has some kind of problem/disability and is bullied in school. Yawn. It wasn’t interesting and made me quite irritated. Maybe because these books are middle grade and are just too old for me? I’m not sure but as soon as I found out it was a six book series I dropped them so fast. I just can’t put myself through that. Not even for Cassie. Sorry.
3) Wool by Hugh Howey
I picked up these books because they honestly sound amazing. But they turned out to be not so good. The first book was such a struggle to get through. I didn’t like any of the characters and the plot wasn’t as exciting as the synopsis made it sound. I didn’t get very far in the second one before I decided to quit the series. I just couldn’t read any further. I tried. I really, really, really tried but I couldn’t. If I’m not enjoying a book, I’m not going to force myself to read it when I could be reading something I like.
4) Ghost House by Alexandra Adornetto
I read the first book and it was alright. I liked it and was interested in reading the second one. But after a year there was no news on when it was being published. Three years later the second book was published! What even is that??? Do they honestly think I will still be interested in reading the second book three years later? So this was a series I quit because I can’t even be bothered with it anymore. Disappointing but not worth my time. I’m not really a fan of the second cover, either. That puts me off reading it.
5) A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas.
You guys already know my beef with these books so I won’t bore you with the details. For those who don’t here’s a quick re-cap: Read the first one, liked it. Couldn’t finish the second one. Got the third one but not interested in finishing the second one to read the third one. As of now it is a series I have quit but that may change in the future. I don’t know. We’ll see. I’m just not really a fan of Sarah’s writing.
I’ve quit some other series in the past but that was a while ago so not going to talk about them. These are all my most recent ones and I’m sure some of you while disagree with the last one! What book series have you guys quit? Feel free to leave a comment below! I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
